Quite frankly, I would like to see that type of model continue on this path. I mean, not having to purchase parts of a game that I'm not going to use would save me money.

I don't think it will ever work like that. I doubt it will ever save consumers money if the gaming industry adopts such a model for all games. I'm sure what the game publishers will do is sell the "basic" game at the same high price which is a price where a lot of people are still willing to pay, and then selling extra features that should probably have very well have been in the original at an extra cost.

I think the gaming industry is going to milk it for all they can rather then provide a fairer price-model by using micro-payments or payments for ad-ons that probably should have been included in the first place. Gaming is sure getting expensive.

*shakes head* FFS people, Linux is not a priority for most companies. You're lucky if they even bother with a release after time as passed. Of COURSE they're gonna focus on the primary operating system - Windows. Mac? Maybe sometime later.

id will probably release a version for linux and mac in the future. Quake III has a linux native version.

But please, don't keep getting disappointed whenever high-profile software is released and doesn't have a Linux version. You'll become exhausted very quickly.

I don't think any of us that use FOSS are disappointed if a commercial vendor doesn't release their software for linux or other free operating systems. There is plenty of great software available that is free and will meet the demands of most people.

If the trade off for using a stable, secure and free linux operating system that won't be constantly infected with viruses/trojans/malware is that I can't play 10 year old games in my browser then I think the trade-offs are well worth it :)

I think my head will explode if I start talking about the amount of buttons included on the Atari Jaguar controller!

Here I am, all excited about the Wii with the prospect of having a game console with only 3 main buttons to push! Shaped just like a TV remote and requiring the same amount of effort. And what does Nintendo do? They make it so you have to wave the bloody thing around which requires even more effort then using the Atari Jaguar and its over 15 buttons controller!!!!

I am gay and what amazed me most when I was younger was how many "straight" guys out there that are gay.

There are so many "straight" guys out there (not sure about women) who are married or have girlfriends and have a lot of anonymous gay sex behind their partners back. I think that it is quite awful for someone to do this, but it happens. It actually happens quite a lot.

I wouldn't use linux for general desktop stuff either, too much pain if there's no ideological reason to go there.

You must not have used linux in the last 5 years or so as linux is no longer a "pain" to configure and manage now that there are distro's like Ubuntu.

I don't think linux was ever a pain though to be honest. Even 12 year ago when I was using slackware I didn't think it was a pain. The biggest problem about linux back then was obtaining an install disc, or doing what i used to do and downloading all 40 or so floppy disk images on dialup. Now that was a pain, but the install itself was not.

Even back then, I think windows was more of a pain (and still is) to run compared to linux.

Windows isn't that great of an operating system for "general desktop stuff" though. Linux is far better for that. Sure, windows installs quite easily but keeping the system running smoothly is the biggest pain with all the malware, registry errors, system slow-downs because of all the junk thats been installed, having to reinstall the OS because the system has become unusable, and all the other problems associated with using windows.
