  1. And Intel can't seem to get stuff right, P90 bug anyone. What happens when they go AI or deep learning and have similar issues? No one is perfect but I am certainly a bit concerned.

  2. Bwah-ha-ha-ah!!! Boy, do we know this one.

  3. Anyone remember when it was illegal in the US to export encryption technology? This really needs to stop. From a bird's eye perspective, governments are trying to throw out the baby with the bath water. Or, is it all about $$$? I just want to live in peace please.

  4. Be really funny if it added up to 8088.

  5. I am being very sarcastic. When reading this article I wanted to see what this pr*ck looked like. Much to my surprise I was not disappointed. He looks like a 40 year old version of Martin Shkreli. Sometimes I don't know how people can live with themselves let alone manage anatomically challenging self-fulfillment. Really sad side of reality and it only gets worse. Sorry, folks this makes me sick for those who have to have this life saving "device" as it is put. Out...

  6. Really? So, they are completely illustrating that their IT efforts are a "cost center" and that IT is a "necessary evil" that they provide minimal effort to. Everyone knows that a serious "Data Center" has multiple protective measures in place, so who is this service provider? I wonder how they treat their aircraft? This is so blatantly obvious it hurts those who know IT. Forget about the outsourcing questions.

  7. First, I really don't know what to think about climate change vs. solar influence vs. normal centuries long ebbs and flows of our 4 billion year old planet. However, my gut tell me this. If you say it long enough and beat the drum loud enough, then whatever your message it must true, right?

  8. And you wanted a cloud on DJI Threatens To 'Brick' Its Copters Unless Owners Agree To Share Their Details (thesun.co.uk) · · Score: 3, Insightful

There is no real ownership of anything anymore. I'll be really surprised when you have to agree to a EULA upon entering this messed up world. Unbelievable.

  9. Allow me to be the first to trust the Chinese. I think not.

  10. Minority Report on Police To Test App That Assesses Suspects (bbc.com) · · Score: 2

Here we go. Easy is a four letter word folks. Dollar signs once again outweigh society. I'm glad I am past my prime and worry for the kids left behind.

  11. Privacy Legislation on Bose Headphones Secretly Collected User Data, Lawsuit Reveals (fortune.com) · · Score: 2

Anyone want to start a conversation regarding new privacy legislation where consumer electronics come into play? First, Comey saying there is no such thing as privacy any more, paraphrasing of course. Second, your browsing history up for grabs to the highest bidder. Third, this goes on and on. EULA is the devil in all details and should be abolished. When do citizens get to realize the bill of rights: life, liberty and the pursuit of what? Submission?

  12. Bad mood on How Wiretaps Actually Work (washingtonpost.com) · · Score: 2, Insightful

BS! All of it. The federal government does what it wants, when it wants and hides behind published procedure. I am so tired of all of this.

  13. Really, the only thing left for those who are not incarcerated is, "Just give us a sample of your DNA. We already have everything else." I wonder long term what kind of effect this will have on humankind. If you develop a sense that nothing you do is private, then you become nothing more than a slave to those who have access to the data mine. These agencies have access to so much information, you must now assume that they know more about you than you. I have also wondered who audits this data and can they guarantee authenticity and integrity?

  14. Oh, say it isn't so... on A Typo Led To Podesta's Email Hack, Says Report (thehill.com) · · Score: 1

How does this surprise me. Humm, socialist leaning, ignorant, dumb, ID10T, whining little man. So sorry you were hacked by your own, and by extension, an absent, overworked, and equally ID10T IT folks. Unreal, really... We have been sitting on internet related security for over a decade and they, being the entitled, still feel like they can just ignore everything. And they know best, right?

  15. Is this a question of honing or manipulation?

  16. Oh, really? Please, the day will come when tech companies, although full of great ideas, they will falter. FB has been on my target list forever. Being fair, social media is the entity on my list. Remember MySpace anyone? The day will come when the darling is no longer the darling. RIP FB.

  17. After twenty years in the industry, we can't even get security right. I am scared to death about AI in this vein. Push to market is what this is all about, creating industry that is bound to fail, miserably.

  18. Turn the whole internet off and see what we get. Not even a reboot will work. I'm not a Orwellian conspiracy theorist, but it is really down to it isn't it?

  20. Tactile on Slashdot Asks: Is Paperless Office a Dream? (betanews.com) · · Score: 1

After twenty years of discussion, short answer is yes. People love tactile things. One could argue it is part of human nature to touch and feel among other things. So yes, this is a dream that will not be realized for some time to come.

  21. Something that I have always had a beef with is software companies. Does Ford, Toyota, or any other hard goods manufactures state or enforce what I would call "left turn Sundays?" Where, as a part of a Ford EULA for example, states it is the company's right and requirement that you as an owner (not really) are required to make left turns only on Sunday. If you fail to do this, then we have a right to take you to court and prosecute. Let's not even talk about arbitration. If EA left a wide open window in its API or SDK, it's their fault. Period. Anyone want to talk about IoT and DDoS in this regard? Same thing...

  22. Stop on How a Video Game About Sheep Exposes the FBI's Broken FOIA System (dailydot.com) · · Score: 3, Insightful

When is our illustrious government going to stop using the "outdated" technology argument? We all know that when they want something, they usually get it. This is just, "there is nothing to see here" in action.

  23. Is there nothing this man will not touch to secure his own tenable legacy? Please. I'm really starting to believe this life we think we have is just a simulation. Nothing makes sense anymore.

  24. Copy that! If we can't take security seriously, what about AI? As far as articulation to executives, I do that and still get shot down. Sad state of affairs really and getting more and more dangerous.

  25. Of course on Across US, Police Officers Abuse Confidential Databases (ap.org) · · Score: 1
