  1. Already on WinMX on Fighting Music Piracy with Glue · · Score: 1

And with Sony actively developing the PS3, who's going to want MS's offering?

FUD. The PS3 is at least two years out from now, if not more. Sony is simply trying to do to Microsoft what they did to Sega (ie, when the Dreamcast started doing well, they began flooding the media with PS2 announcements, even though you wouldn't see the console for another year and some months).

Well, it worked, didn't it? Where's the Dreamcast today?

I hate the fact that whenever a new MS computer virus hits, news reports always neglect to mention "This virus only infects computers running Microsoft operating systems". That would go a long way to convince people to look elsewhere.

That's true - they were responsible for Reboot, and the excellently rendered Transformers: Beast Wars and the much less enjoyable Beast Machines.

I'm kinda surprised that they choose to stick around up there, considering what the tax rate is up there. They can surely get paid better working in the states.

  7. Actors have nothing to worry about..... on Will CGI Collapse the Hollywood Economy? · · Score: 1

....but I'll tell you who does - Stuntmen. They get paid pretty handsomely for putting their lives at risk in front of the camera. And in the past it was pretty obvious when a stunt double was used, like for Ah-nold in Terminator 2 during the truck chase. Now, for far less money, moviegoers can actually see Schwartzeneger on fire, not someone that _kinda_ looks like him.

Heck, the PC crowd will probably consider replacing stunt doubles as the humane thing to do!

$0. This was proven by the price of Dreamcast games. There was no piracy (until they were hacked 9 months later), and the price was STILL the same as games on other less "secure" systems.

Don't fall for the argument that piracy increases prices. The companies know that people are willing to pay $50 for games, so they will charge that no matter what, not having to pay for anti-piracy measures simply means more money in their pocket!

And again you would lose a vital part of the Spider-Man mythos. Even if it were remotely possible that Parker could sell the fluid without placing his loved ones in danger, if he did that and became rich, there goes the 'everyman' aspect of the character (yes, a genius everyman, but still believable enough to attract the Slashdot crowd in their youth). Who would want to read about a rich teenager who tosses money his aunt's way whenever she needed an operation, did not need to deal with J Jonah Jameson, etc? He'd be pretty boring. Remember, Marvel paved its way to success by portraying heroes with flaws. DC had the characters where everything was perfect (at least in the 60's).
