    If you're placing IP protection laws as more important the laws relating to the violence and abuse that homeless people endure, I think you need a better perspective on life.

    It was my understanding that radio stations have to pay for playing songs too. If they don't pay as much as your restauranteur, well, I pay more for my drinks in a restaurant than the supermarket.

    I really don't think your conclusion follows. I had (have) a very rich father and had (have) a 'studying on a benefit whilst raising two kids' mother. I certainly didn't 'love' my father more because he bought me things to replace the time he spent at work.

    There's a difference between being a firm, consistent parent and being excessively strict. One will make your kids respect you, and I don't know about the other one, but I imagine it doesn't make for a great parent-child relationship.

    The electricity is supplied at a massively discounted rate, but it's still metered. The discount is because of the predictable nature of demand, both short term (a few days) and long term (10+ years). Also there's often associated generation built concurrently with the refinery/smelter etc.

    Actually, if you have any links to an example of unmetered heavy industrial use I'd be very interested.

    My only knowledge on this subject is reading the wikipedia article, but I can tell you that this is all accounted for when working out the tensile strength required.

    Also, the weight of the payload is going to be insignificant to the weight of the nanotube itself, if only because you can make the payload as small as you need to.

    WoW trading cards are blurring this line already. You spend real money to buy the trading cards, then sell a code from the trading cards to someone in game for gold.

    I had a rather lengthy discussion with a GM about this topic, after I reported someone for the 500th time for selling a code.

    I'm still unconvinced, and I still waste GM time reporting people for it.

    For people in the target demographic who earn enough money and are in a secure financial position they're not concerned about the nominal cost of a BluRay player or the movies. They're concerned about getting what's good/best for their needs/wants and that's that.

    I agree I'm not the target demographic. The target demographic is people who place immediate wants over long term needs.

    I should be the target demographic. I'm a guy in my 20s who earns more than most people my age but I still have a 24 inch CRT and watch DVDs on my computer.

    Until HDTV offers me something useful, I'll stick with that setup.

    Poor people quibble over nickels and dimes.

    No, self-made rich people do.

    I had some greek friends who couldn't understand why we had all the rules and regulations to follow. Apparently it's much easier in their country where you just give the inspector some cash and everything works out better for everyone.

    In my particular case it was for getting a container through customs.

    Inspector gets money, you get your products out quicker instead of having stock tied up on the dock for weeks on end. Win Win
