Sure, and by that logic, any situation has no privacy whatsoever. What matters is whether anonymously accessing a website is easier than, say, anonymously buying something from your local store.
So, you're agreeing with me? They're the ultimate in high volume, cheap, slow storage.
To the cousin poster - would you propose that we do monthly-rotating daily backups of our small business server to spinning hard drives? Keep in mind that they need to be easily archivable and the cost of the media is more important than cost of the hardware.
Surely the cheap, huge capacity market is claimed by tape drives, and they're not going away any time soon. It'll be interesting to see if conventional hard drives can fill the middle niche, or if they get squeezed.
Admittedly, this is somewhat offtopic, but maybe I can get some helpful responses.
What alternatives are there for people who don't want to pirate bay their music? I'm looking both for a way to pay a reasonable sum for mainstream music, and possibly an outlet for freely distributed 'indy' music. For commercial downloads, the ability the preview songs would be preferable but not necessary. Oh, and I'm not in America, so many of the more popular solutions don't work for me.
As an aside, doesn't it indicate how backwards the music industry is when I have to come to somewhere like slashdot to ask these questions? I'm sure there a millions of other people like me, who have disposable income that they're willing to use to support music, but don't know where to go to do so.
My definition of interval training certainly includes periods of going all out, moderated with less intense periods. Maybe we're talking past each other.
You're right in that a game that encourages go-as-hard-as-you-can-for-as-long-as-you-can is not a particularly good training model, but that wasn't what I was suggesting.
Nonsense. The only thing is that you definitely *don't* want to be doing when training is maintaining constant heart rate. This will make you fitter, but it's certainly not the most efficient way to go about achieving it.
Long duration 'target heart rate' workouts are good for building a base cardio level to work with. Think of this as increasing the size of your car engine
Interval training, however, is excellent for peaking your base fitness. Think of this as tuning your car engine so it works better.
I'm in New Zealand and I far prefer paying for extra bandwidth than getting throttled. I pay for extra bandwidth at roughly the same rate I pay for normal bandwidth, which seems reasonable.
I'm not trying to correct you, since I realise Americans use the term "gas" to represent petrol. But what do you call methane + a bit of ethane that the rest of us call "natural gas"
Only in America would someone who drives 20 miles a day consider himself to be someone who doesn't use roads much.
Don't take this the wrong way, I'm just amazed at the differences in the way people see the world.
Lots of people know her name. Unfortunately, the editors don't fall into that group.

So it's a good thing he's sucking it down not up.
At least, that's how I read it. Damn ambiguous English.
Maybe that's what they're really doing? The 'check it out - it's free and going away soon' line seems great as a promotional tool.
I think this is why it's taken so long to get a viable MS Office clone. Nothing it does is complicated or hard.
I'd like to introduce you to Office 2007.

They're actively pushing the registration however. Want to take bets on how long til registered cards get a special discount?
Actually, it has it's positives, since my 'normal' friends spout slashdotesque view points when snapper cards are brought up.
I was expecting a funny mod here. Are you actually being serious?
When you're retelling a story like this it needs to get better each time.
So, the first reply should have stated the correct amount of $3100. However, by now, that number should be well in excess of $10,000.
I think it might get the story tag too
I created something called 'simplified system model', which was shortened to SSM. So of course people refer to it as the SSM model. Drives me nuts.
I always thought it was a black and white issue.
You simply refer to people how they want you to refer to them.
That's a really good idea. Thanks!

Candidate 2 = Left, Left, Right
Candidate 3 = Left, Right, Left
Candidate 4 = Left, Right, Right
Presumably it will get worse once the money has been wasted on the filter and videos explaining how to circumvent it start popping up on youtube.
Well, duh. We just filter those videos.

I always thought it was a Terry Pratchet reference
No, it's not standard practice.
I've bought sim cards in Italy, Holland, Germany and Spain without having to produce a passport.
This was 2-4 years ago.
