    Cloud computing? lots of load on the server, better make it a beowulf cluster... Oh wait, why not get a bunch of PCs running Plan9? If you have gigabit ethernet, it'll automagicaly include a big honkin RAID array, and it'll be multicore. the separet CPUs don't have to be powerfull.

    Effitient? Talk about twilight zone style. Any good diesel hit 50% efftiency hands down. if you really trick it out, you'd probably hit 65-75%. And how much does a coalplant do? 1/3 tops.

    I hear zsh has plenty of bells and whistles. Just get him to run some off-the-wall *nix system, like Plan 9, or a hardcore distro like gentoo or slackware, but best begin with something lighter like Fedora. Or if he is really enthused even debian or *BSD will do. Just keep him fidling, and he'll learn programing and more specificaly kernel hacking out of what he, by then, will consider necesity.

    You are mistaking holograms with volumetric displays. The "help me obiwan kenobi, you're my only hope" bit from star wars is a volumetric display, i.e. it shows 3D objects. A hologram is a 2D image that includes fase information, therefore depth, so it is actualy a 2D representation of something 3D.

    You do realize that the 50+ demographic are most of todays TV viewers? There was a story here, but I can't be bothered to look for it. Also, it's not TV, it's UMPCs that killed the newspaper, for some people.

    yeah, and credit cards are doing great things for american economy.~ besides, if you forget a pack of money in a public space, and somebody takes it, its still stealing, but you have jst as much yourself to blame. would people start using frigin' good encryption sometime soon, or do we have to steal their identities and make mass murder with them or something? I've so had it with this whole society, that I'm actualy up for it.

    I am flatered by the recognition (yay! somebody laght at my joke!) but that wasn't supposed to bea pure joke. more like irony. cocaine has half the cardiotoxicity (risk of heartattack increase) of nicotine, and even a smaller fraction of its addictive effects. and cannabis, even smoked, is praktikaly medicine. check wikipedia.
