We say Ono, but he played a big part in it. Was one of the people in the group a janitor who felt he was smarter than everybody else and then walked in and solved the equation? I am pretty sure that is exactly how it went down. And the janitor's friend is Ben Affleck. I have no clue why Ben Affleck is friends with a janitor, but he is
I used to get Mick Jagger confused with Steve Tyler since they both have abnormally massive mouths. Try being a kid watching the movie Freejack and knowing if that dude is Mick Lips or AeroLips
So I can pass this on through generations of my family until the United Continents of Earth start taking over planets and then my family get fat paid? That might not be a bad investment for $100
I tried to sum up the entire story, but obviously there is alot I did not cover. I went to the Director (who is just above the team I was on at the time) and nothing happened. He decided that he should not take sides and that we should "settle it like adults". Unfortunately, the same thing happened at HR.
That is simple: programming is my passion. Some people have music, some people have numbers, but for me, I feel like a zen master when I program. I have tried doing other things with my life, but it comes back to programming. I wish I could explain it, but I could care less about recognition, as it is not about that. Life is about doing what you love, and I love programming. Simple
...throw employees under the bus. My boss told me I had X number of days to get a project done (X = I don't remember the days). The code needs to go through a senior developer before it hits QA. Here is the kicker: I was given this project because a senior developer did not have time to get it done. Now you may be thinking, "Well if the senior developer did not have enough time to do it, wouldn't that mean that he would not have time to go through the code?" If that is your question, the answer is, you are correct. The senior developer did not have time to look this over. What happened was that this sat at the senior developer for about 3 days with my boss yelling and getting snarky at me. I told him where the code was. No changes were required for the code. What happened was that this manager was looking to get rid of me (there are reasons that there is no need to bring up, but let me just say he pulled me into some office politics and I had never been in the situation and did not know how to handle it). and since this was a new manager, he thought he needed to fire somebody so that everybody knew who was boss (I seriously had confirmation of this with people I have kept in touch with from the company). Also, the senior developer the boss really liked. Even though the senior developer took 3 days and found nothing, I got fired from it.
What does this have to do with anything? My boss really liked the other person and did not want to tell people in a business meeting that the project was late due to him taking too long. I got thrown under the bus since according to my boss, "if it was going to take that long for the senior developer, I should have gotten my portion done in 4 days instead of the 7 I took".
Some IT managers will blame everything on the "worker bees" (even if it was the manager himself who pulled in an unrealistic due date when he personally knew how busy the senior developer was). He knew that the senior developer could not get the project done in time and needed a scape goat or whatever it is called, so it was all pinned on me. I will not say all of them, because I have had some incredible IT managers as well.
You know, I thought it was a great idea to use up all of my mod points until I saw this. If I had a mod point, I would get you with a +1 insightful since you can shed some extra light on the id cards. Somebody else out there, please, mod parent up
Hmm, maybe he is doing some Jason Bourne stuff. Either that or he got arrested and is unable to make any phone calls or make outside contact with anybody. Option 2 sounds more like what happened.
Stop reminding me of the fact that I am on/. and not working. Wait, you aren't my boss peaking in on me, are ouy? I hope not. Yeah, This can't be said any better than what you said in your post, but seriously, I am trying to work, stop peaking over my shoulder. I am researching an issue
Maybe you should try programming in a better language besides a horrible "silver platter" language (called that because they hand you the language on a silver platter). Ah, VS is a resource hog, even though it is made by M$, well that is your company's fault for deciding to use.Net. Don't blame the hardware, blame the fact that you are forced to use.Net and instead of worrying about upgrading your hardware, worry about upgrading your job to get away from a place like that
In April, I was working the normal 8-5 M-F, but then 7 days a week for 6 weeks, I was working from 1am-5:30am. Now, if you do the math, during the week, that was 13.5 hours a day during the week. You have no idea as a manager what that does to an employee. I did it because it was my job whether I liked it or not. Do you want to know what happened to me? I was fired for my horrible work quality. Now, before this started and I was working this shift, I am 100% serious when I say I was on the fast track to a promotion. The boss said that he wanted to give me more responsibility and start having teams of people under me. I was doing great. 13.5 hours a day then happened. Within 6 weeks, I went from a "superstar about to get a promotion" employee to so bad that I was fired. It only took 6 weeks for my work quality to drop me so low to where I got fired.
I have later found out that my boss put me up to that to get rid of me thinking I would simply quit. There is not that much of a difference between 10 hours and 13.5 (only 3.5 hours), and I am 100% serious where I say that I now go to a sleep specialists to figure out how to fix my brain when it comes to sleep since I have some messed up sleep deprivation from it now. Lucky for me, most health insurance plans do not cover sleep issues (including my current plan)
If you need to push more on your employees, you better be prepared for the aftermath. You say 10 hours is no big deal, but seriously, if your employees are anything like me, they will do it to prove they can. Knowing you guys, you will be like, "Well they handled 10 hours just fine, lets push that up to 12. It is only an additional 2 hours".
Unless they are doing 4-10's or something like that, the work quality will drop. Sure, you have them working more, but at what cost? The code will turn out worse, the demeanor will drop, and in the end, you will completely regret the decision.
Take it from somebody who has lived through it, do not do it. You will regret it
Mick Jagger and Emilio Estaves, what could possibly go wrong?

But it would be really funny. I would honestly pay for that surgery
does that mean the possibility of me getting surgery to change my voice to sound like Bruce Willis?
Same great iSeries of products, now with less black turtlenecks

You sir, just described the internet. Unfortunately, that crazy idea does not fly well with Jobs
Hey now, we all make mistakes, but what is far more worse is then you realize you fainted from it being so bad.
Playboy is when I want to whack off and feel classy
I do IT now, just no longer in the big corporate setting.

Get some of those huge chopper back wheels for your car. That would be awesome
Why does this have all the signs of a straight to SyFy movie release?

I should change that, as I have been playing nice for way too long.
