Technically, WikiLeaks did nothing wrong (according to what you can find publically). Now that they are assisting him, as another person stated, it shows that they are working together. That is very bad for WikiLeaks. Unfortunately, Manning did commit a crime whether we like it or not. Whether it was for the good or not, it is still a crime. WikiLeaks needs to slow their roll before they get themselves in some trouble (and rest assured, there are lawyers waiting for WikiLeaks to slip up on something). WikiLeaks is a pretty cool place to get some information, but if they keep slipping by donating to people like Manning, they may be giving places reasons to take them down, which sucks.

You are saying this like there is some government office out there that does not have landlines and everybody 100% relies on cell phones. Come on now, even you know better than that. They are basically taking cell phones from employees that do not specifically need them for their job. Also, why is everybody associating this with just IT (well, it is /. but even still). What about the entry level accountants? Should they have government paid cell phones? Listen, if you want to pay another person's cell phone bill through your taxes when that person does not need the cell phone at all, you go right ahead. For me, and I have lived in Cali for multiple years, I would rather my tax money going to something other than paying for some person's cell phone bill.

I would not say it is just for marketing and sales. This would be awesome to put into my media box so that I don't need a PC next to my projector. Now I can put my media box in the other room next to my main computer and get a small monitor to use as a "base station" just in case. I have not read much about the card, but I am 95% sure that there will be at least 1 wired port. I was actually looking at wireless monitor stuff previously, and that stuff is expensive. I am more curious to see the relationship of M$ and FB after this. M$ has money invested into FB, so it obviously knows about what FB is and has had ample time to sue them (the patent was filed in 2009, and it is 2011 now), but chose not to. Obviously the wait was to get more money, but why doesn't M$ just be a douche and threaten to pull out from FB and stop investing? Unless M$ is suing for the 450mil they put into FB, then it is going to hurt FB much less hitting them with a lawsuit. FB/Zuck are too big of money whores to push M$ away, so there is no need to think about that.

This is very true. You may try your comebacks to this, but this is also a big reason why many people have WoW accounts. I tried the game and thought it was meh, but it doesn't matter what I think when there are over 10 million active accounts on it (they might be up to 12 million now, but I digress).

Anybody that thinks FB will be the definitive are the same people stuck in EverQuest. Sure, EverQuest was a good game for its time with a good amount of users, but something newer and better came alone, which was WoW. The new Star Wars MMO by BioWare is on a fast track to stop WoW in its tracks very quickly. I have a WoW account and have met hundreds of orthers in WoW (through message boards, raids, etc) and most of them are like me and are planning on switching to the new Star Wars MMO when it comes out. It is newer and better.

FB will not be around and be the big dog forever. I promise you, all it will take to beat out a social website is a single guy with a cool idea (and not a team of developers at BioWare). Zuck made the code for FB in his dorm room by himself and then it expanded. With that notion, how many other college kids right now are biting at the teet to match that?

I promise you FB will go the way of MySpace once another college kid gets a great idea that makes that kid's idea more scalable, easier to use, more convenient, has flash support for crappy games and stuff, etc.

The same arguments people made about why FB will be the biggest and a good business model for years to come, I could easily use with a business that went the way of the dodo. Remember, since the internet is free, there are new sites popping up daily, and it only a matter of time before somebody does it faster, harder, with more passion, and way better. I promise you it will happen. Life is more than FB and WoW kids, you just need to realize it.
