I still have one, but I never buy disks for it. I dont really use DVDs that much even. The storage market has evolved enough that we dont really need it most of the time.
Just because a few computer companies started out as projects, that does not mean that everything someone starts in their garage is bound to be wildly successfull. I dont get why they must draw the parallels.
But why does it seem like every new kernel update has all these awesome new features that will change everything, but when you ask how they will affect people who USE the operating system, people are like "what do you mean? who cares?"?
I'm not an idiot, or someone who never uses computers, but what does the user of linux GET from these thousands of man hours?
Look I love ubuntu just as much as other people, but your times are grossly inaccurate. backup data - 30 minutes Install XP - 15 minutes, 5 if SSD Find / Install drivers - 10 minutes Install apps - depends, but theres not a bloody thing that takes 6 hours to install. Move saved back up - 5 minutes. How could it possibly take two hours to copy a bit of data? I could fill up my entire hard drive in that time.
If it really takes you all day to do this, your doing it wrong.
The curriculum does not necessarily include programming. I think it should be more basic, like computer history, what drivers are, how networking works, how to format a hard drive- etc. Focus can be made neither on software development (being that it is to specific a subject) or on anything that would go out of date very quickly, as much does in the industry.
In one word: YES! Computer science is very very important. You will use it in damn near any field you go into- from operating the register at a burger king - to being a software programmer.
Just make a simple diagnostic program with a database, put it on a flash drive, plug flash drive into computer that comes up with an indicator of "clean" or "10 years".
-1 me for trolling but I have to say, this is ridiculous. Taking out water supplies? When has that ever happened? And why dont we call botnets botnets instead of putting a hyped up fear monger acronym in the headlines because we feel like it?
They're going to take apart out printers and make missile guidance systems?
They're planning on printing us to death?
Fuck the ban. Is this or is this not a free market? Export restrictions are bull. If someone else wants to buy our stuff, then let them.

Whoops forgot to login. AC was me.
You could still buy them a year or two ago. Theyre not THAT out of date.

God bless you, sir.

Put a little keyboard infront of it, make it relay what you type to the screen, make it a command prompt.
impervious to hacking. Ba ha ha. Why do they bother with these descriptions? They know they will just be emberassing themselves later.

I'm sorry if i'm missing something, but I never understood the point of ruby on rails.
We don't need warner. Let them be the dinosaurs they are, and let them die in old mediums.
PS - Imagine a beowulf cluster of these.
Is there any reason to buy a platter drive anymore, aside from cost? Id rather have speed, reliability, and long life.

We humbled Kany... WE humbled the IFW!
USPS has IT people? Oiy veih I can imagine that job.
Since when has fox news been worthy of slashdotting?
Yeah I was just about to mention that too.
