    Where the average meal size is less than half that of our american counterparts (american friends allways wonder at how small our BigMacs are.. really). Snacking on greasy/sugary things 24/7 doesn't seem to be pre-requisite to a balanced life either.

    That should take car of step one (food) by itself.
    Step 2 is physical activity. Don't jog, everyone knows it's as boring as hell. Pushups? Situps? boring. swimming? fun for 30 seconds. Find something you enjoy, how? Try some new sports: try rockclimbing (really sculpts the body), basketball, [god-forbid] soccer, rollerblading ANYTHING! If you like it, you will come back.

    Oh and finally if you really need to lose weight fast, stop drinking beer for two weeks. OR pick up smoking, nothing's a better food-substitute than a cigarette.

    Well I'm not an electronics engineer, but how hrd would it be to cut the headphone cord down the middle and hook up those two (left and right I assume) cables manually to a microphone, line it, noral stereo jack... well just about anything usefull to copy this cd?

    Ok, so your headphones are [partly] useless but you get to copy the cd right?

    Can someone in the know tell me if this doable? IS there a big loss? Is it just plain dumb?

    while I don't think that this is on-topic since users don't submit the mp3s that other users pay to dl, let me point out that Kazaa has introduced Altnet files ( more info here) that certify that "Beatles - Can't buy me love" (or whatever) actually IS what you read and not something else.
    How reliable is such a system? I don't know but it's definatly a good idea.

    Maybe this goes in the complete other direction of what the creator was thinking of but here goes anyway:
    what couldbe the benefits of having 1 of those keyboards on each hand? you could be doing ctrl - alt - shift - c - m -r-w for all we know. Used correctly this device could let one type at ridiculous speeds (maybe). One could even be lying down in a beach chair looking at a ceiling mounted monitor, both hands hanging around him typing something. I'm not sure on what effects this has to the many joints in the hands but I was just wandering..

    I think that from 2005 or so, all new-borns *should* be fitted with special unremovable "ear aids" and "contact lenses" in order to protect these future citizens from themselves. These new devices would mask vision if the person attempts to look at copyrighted material he has not paid for... same thing goes for music...

    so what do you think? It would be a much better and safer world no?

    Well I'm just dreaming here, but combining Sim Ant and the Sims and Sim City and Sim Earth would be pretty damn cool IMO. Being able to take the level of abstraction one wanted... playing with seconds/days/months/years/centuries would be pretty interesting I think... Maybe we could simulate this 'ant going this way, causes artctic drift theory'!

    You should try cancelling a cellphone subscription here in France! In total I spent over 3 hours on the phone (>100$) with their "technicians", received half a dozen threatening letters from their legal service. Received one letter from people coming to seize my furniture, and finally a symbolic check from their accounting dept for the symbolic sum of 1 cent. All this in a meager 2 months!

    And what you spent 1 hour on the phone with someone asking you for a good reason to cancel?
    Some people just have it easy ;)

    Why would some lawyer not open a .pro website and host porn on it? .coms were only to be commercial sites, we all know what a joke that turned out to be! porn invested most .things pretty fast... I leave them a monthe or two before we start seeing "barely legal lawyers" on .pro sites (that would be a catchy title huh?)

    Yeah I thought that they were the trend setters. How many times have I read "IBM breaks its own record by creating bigger/better/faster/smaller" hard-drive. I had the impression that they were undetronable.

    If there's one thing I remember from my CS classes was that using someone elses code is time saving. Just look around you everyone does it, even Microsft! Who has'nt allready found a cool snipet of code somewhere and said "hey that's cool, I could use that" ?
    Don't lie or start blurting out comments about license agreements, lots of programmers do that.
    That's part of CS.
