While some of the people jailed are probably USA funded propagandists, I think that the majority of them are real journalists. Did you read Sean Penn's diary of his trip to Iran? I doubt that Penn is working for the Bush adminstration to spread bad stuff about Iran. His diary seems to be a "call it how he sees it" diary of an American in Iran. He saw tons of heavy-handed government practices towards journalists. It is real.

I personally know Iranians, and they too admit that the government locks up people for saying bad stuff about the theocracy. Not all of my Iranian friends want regime change (only the Bahai wants regime change), but they aren't delusional like you. There are real problems in Iran and especially its theocracy.

Yes the USA has and most likely continues to interfere in Iranian society, but you are batshiat crazy if you think that all of the jailed journalists are working for the USA. That is the same reasoning used by Bush supporters who claim that anybody that speaks against the Bush adminstration supports Osama bin Laden.

A little anti-(US)Americanism thrown in there in the beginning, huh? How did your post get modded up? I am pretty openminded about things and willing to roll with the punches. I also voted AGAINST Bush in the past two elections... but this has got to stop. anti-USA remarks must be called for what they are: unjust prejudice based on nationality.

Back to directly addressing your comments. Yes there is allot of crap on TV here in the USA, but we still have a choice. The Newshour with Jim Lehrer on PBS is a good alternative. They treat news as news and not entertainment. It is roughly 1 hour long, with 1 minute of commercials at the beginning and the end of the hour. It is, in my opinion, the most informative news show on TV. Nightline also does a good job of detailing specific issues int he world, though it is not a general news show like the Newshour.

So thanks for the anti-Americanism, as it is misleadingly called... Canadians are Americans too, as are Mexicans, etc. I've seen news in other places and it has its issues too. News in the UK is decidedly anti-American, which seems to be en vogue recently. It is not acceptable to be an anti-African news show, so why is it acceptable to be anti-American? Watching the coverage of Katrina in both the USA and the UK was sickening. News outlets in the UK seemed to find pleasure in the disaster and sensationalized all sorts of stuff. My point is that you need to check yourself and cut the anti-American crap.

You just described games that use a D-pad and 4 buttons. SNES games use a D-pad and 8 buttons. The Gamecube controller is pretty sucky for D-pad games, which is why Hori created a controller that is very similar to the original SNES controller, which is nearly ideal for D-pad games.

Apparently you weren't around for that whole "Project Reality", "Ultra 64", "N64" hype fest, when Nintendo released a series of arcade games which they claimed used the same technology that would be used in their upcoming console (which would eventually be called the N64). The graphics in these arcade games were top of the line for their time... then the N64 was released and people realized that Nintendo lied. The technology in the arcade games and the N64 is basically unrelated, with one of the biggest differences being the fact that the arcade games used harddrives, while the N64 used carts. This and several other differences severely limited the texture resolution that games could use resulting in the imfamous blury N64 games.

I am sorry guys, but this thing looks too gimmicky to work out. I thought Nintendo claimed that the Revolution would support all of Nintendo's classic games from the NES, SNES, and N64? This controller can't even be used for playing SNES games as it lacks the number of buttons needed to do so.

Furthermore, this controller lacks the ability to play classic 2D fighting games such as Street Fighter II. Sure there will be new games that you can play, but what happened to appealing to a wide variety of tastes? What happened to supporting their classic SNES and N64 games?

Apparently Nintendo was thinking ahead... maybe. Really, I am skeptical that anything but solid state carts are good for mobile gaming. Sony's PSP is the first to break that model, and it has caused tons of issues: battery life, durability (discs get ejected accidentally), size, and weight.

The zenith of mobile gaming right now, IMO, is the GBASP. It has backwards compatibility with all of the GB games in addition to the SP games, and it is small and inexpensive.

Except for the fact that the Turbo Express predates the Nomad by a few years. It was very unique of the Turbo Express. If one of these game companies was smart, they would make their next gen system's games use a some kind UMD sized HD-DVD, so that the full fledged home system could play movies and next-gen games... and then a generation after that, a portable version of the system could be released.

I think you said "game" when you meant "book". Games do not need good stories. Look at Soccer, Chess, Tetris, Sokoban, etc. They are widely consider to be some of the best games, yet they have little to no story whatsoever. Within the past few years, for some reason, many people have the mistaken assumption that games must be crappy interactive B-movies.

A game is mearly something that is played, and a storyline is not needed to make a game good. Furthermore, the fact that a game is a sports game, board game, or video game does not change this fact.

It has been a while since I have tried the UQM. I'd love to see the game has everything that the PC and 3DO version had. I first played the 3DO version, and it is still a favorite of mine, but there were things missing from the 3DO version. A better solution would be the battery backed RAM disk coupled with a normal harddrive of the same size as the RAM disk. On power failure, the drive would use an embedded system to automatically backup the RAM drive to the harddrive. Of course, the battery would have to have enough power to be able to execute the backup, but that shouldn't be too hard to gauge. Hence the harddrive is used when the battery does not have enough charge to execute an emergency backup of the RAM disk.

The net result would be persistant storage that has the performance of volitile solid state storage.
