Ratpoison is very cool, I have tried to go that route. But I am not hard core enough --- kudos for your patience. I think that project needs more sample configs or techniques for handling applications or rather what to expect. Opening an browser or using xmms can frighten people off in the default setup.

I wrote a sick perl script that forwards me notifications to me via the external actions, to a realbasic daemon that sits on my workstations, laptops. Then I can get all the normal oem audio as well as notifiations from mutt if my screen is attached.

But yes, the little 'all in one tty, forever uptime tty' is great ... home, work, on a webpage, etc.

Agreed, if you want to actually see or speak to your friends that use the oem client your out of luck. If you want to get the enhanced protocol stuff or value adds to their services like 'you have new mail in your singles profile' notification your out of luck.

I just want to chat with people over all the modern protocols + rss and live journal and give myself some ability to script some sexy notification stuff.

With centericq and screen I am very happy, I can go anywhere and still have my client running, windows, osx, or linux. Which for me that type of running around is how things are.

Every processor virtual or otherwise needs to be licensed for each product. So a 2 processor box with 6 virtual processors instances is 8 processors (the windows that booted the virtual processors) and the virtual processors.

This high number of virtual processors is likely to come into fashion in an ASP situation. If you look at vmware enterprise-like solutions where you can have standby virtual processors on other machines and the like.

Seems like a money grab to me that will just alienate folk, just like their user/connection + terminal service licensing destroyed the terminal services. Making it more expensive to license a product in TSE and it did a regular desktop.

Imagine a google 'document mangement, backup, revision control' product for your personal and office documents. Not to mention the sexy search.

Also what is the deal with your craptastic forums, reroute some resources to make that into something.

Collector's Edition Details: Special Pets & 10-Day Guest Pass Explained - Tyren on 11/08/04
We've received a number of inquiries requesting further details about the World of Warcraft Collector's Edition, which will be available along with the standard edition at launch on Nov. 23. To answer the most popular questions that have come up, we'd like to provide the following additional information about the pets that Collector's Edition owners will be able to choose from, and how the 10-day pass that comes with the Collector's Edition will work.

    Collector's Edition Pets

The special pets included with the Collector's Edition are the Panda Bear, Zergling, and Mini-Diablo.

Players who have purchased the Collector's Edition will be able to obtain their special pet by submitting the gift voucher found in their character's inventory to a special NPC located in each starting area. Players will then be able to choose from one of the three special pets.

    Collector's Edition 10-Day Guest Pass

Players who will be accessing the game through the 10-day pass will create their account for that exactly the same way as a normal player, by visiting the account-creation webpage.

Those who wish to continue playing the game once the 10-day free period is over must first visit their local retailer or online store to purchase a copy of World of Warcraft. Once they have obtained a copy of the game, they can log in to WorldofWarcraft.com using their 10-day pass login information and then enter the authentication key that came with boxed copy into the field found at the bottom of their account page.

That's all that's required to activate a full-fledged World of Warcraft account once the 10-day free period has expired. Any characters that players have created during the 10-day trial, along with all their items, will be available for them to continue playing!
