I bought a EverLED Flashlight Bulb and installed it in a 4 D Cell Maglite. It's far better than any of the other LED flashlight solutions I've come across. Although it's not as bright as the Xenon bulb upgrade from Maglite, it uses far less power and it's brighter than the bulb that comes with the 4 D Cell Maglite.
Ok, so you're going 80mph on the freeway and you have to slam your brakes to stop because of debris in your path. You safely stop in time and don't hit the debris. The guy behind you rear-ends you. In this case, I think it's fair to say that the guy who rear-ended you is 100% at fault. It doesn't matter that you were speeding if speeding was not the cause of the accident. In this case, following too close was the cause of the accident.
I've been rear-ended in a similar situation. I was driving 5-10mph above the speed limit in my 1989 BMW 325is and I made a fast stop because a light was about to turn red and I didn't want to run it (big dangerous intersection, short yellow light). The guy behind me in his 2001 Ford Expedition rear-ended me. He probably could have made the stop if he were driving a car similar to mine, but he couldn't because the stopping distance of a 2001 Ford Expedition is terrible compared to 1989 BMW 325is. That detail isn't important in legal terms--quite simply, he was following too close. That's all that mattered. Why I slammed on my brakes doesn't matter, unless it was to intentionally get him to hit me, which it wasn't.
I'd like to add that my night vision is as good as before, which is notably better than the majority of my friends. I don't have the ring problem around lights in the dark. Actually, I had that to an extent with glasses and contacts.
in addition to the awesomeness of having lasers shot into your eyes, it helps you to see better.
My vision was bad enough that I had to wear glasses or contacts all the time. I got Lasik in January of 2002. I can see better than I could before with contacts or glasses. My vision is now 20/15 in my left eye and 20/20 in my right eye, without sigmatism.

It was more than worth the money for me. It cost me about $2400.
That's quite odd, as gourmet coffees are typically arabica, which tends to have less caffeine than robusta. Robusta also tends to be much cheaper than arabica. Most generic, commercial, cheap coffees have a bit of robusta in the blend to give them that extra kick. My expectation would be that cheap coffees contained more caffeine.
However, with all the varieties of arabica coffee available and the various extents to which they are roasted, caffeine content can vary a fair amount from coffee to coffee. Lighter roasts have more caffeine than darker roasts. This may be the key here, as it's quite common for cheap coffee to be burned/overroasted. Coffees that receive lighter roasts are likely to be of high quality as lighter roasts may give you a better idea of the quality of the coffee, which might serve as a deterrent for poor quality coffee. Cheap coffee lightly roasted doesn't have the burnt flavor to cover up the bad taste.
Plextor tends to be good about updating firmware to support new formats and features, so I'm hoping they'll take care of this for us.
For instance, Plextor added the ability to read CDs in RAW mode with errors (no correction), allowing for perfect copies of copy protected CDs. I've always respected them for allowing me to make fair use copies of my CDs.
You're right! I recently sold my 1985 MR2 to a good friend of mine for $1600 (along with a spare low mileage engine I found for $350 from a Japanese engine import shop). I had just replaced the shocks, bushings, lower control arms, and basically most of the other stuff that wears out after nearly 20 years... I had to sell it because i was getting a new car, but I still miss it quite a bit. Note, that stuff didn't "need" to be replaced, but I wanted to keep the handling tight.
That car was rock solid. I think of all the car companies Toyota is near the top in terms of reliability. My new car is a Nissan, but they seem to be fairly well to do as well.
Yeah... we should cut a huge amount of government spending and then talk about a tax cut. They're milking us for all we're worth and wasting the money...
When I worked for the local county's department of information technology... they would do things like by spare Ultraspark 166s in case someone's failed... so a pallet full of 10 computers was not really utilized.
Wasteful, disgusting.
Most government agencies only get as much money as they can spend... and lose what they don't spend. So, they spend more...

The IR range on PDAs makes me wonder why, at least to my knowledge, there isn't a CF or SD card with a high powered/low speed IR transmitter for this purpose.
One of my favorite things to do is to run VMWare sessions on my computer and within those run VNC so that various people can look at what I'm working with (rather than give them access to my own desktop, they just get the virtual machine).
You could do the very same by simply running VNC Server in each VM (of course, that's only really feasable if you give each one a different IP address...). =)
Now you're getting me all nostalgic. I ran my BBS (3 lines near the end) up until sometime in 1999. At the peak I could get 75 calls in a day, nearly everyone going on just to post and read messages (from time to time I put up online games, but that wasn't really the focus of the board). I was definitely running the board at a loss, but it was well worth it as: I met a lot of people through it. We would have "socials" fequently and these events would bring all sorts of strange people together. It's amazing how many friends I met through my bulliten board and how many are still around today. The sense of community was very strong, unlike anything one could possibly acheive on the internet.
