I should've explained better - the "improvements" in Windows Mobile 6.5 were hardly improvements at all. Someone put it well when they said that it was "as useful as a poke in the eye"

Yes, Android feels like a beta, but then so do all Google products.

Even though WinMo is for power users (I agree), the problem with the popularity of the iphone is that the power users already want it in their enterprise environment and ferverently believe that it *IS* an enterprise phone.

Monkeys being cute has everything to do with it (OK, not everything, but plays a big role). Related to cuteness - why do you think "save the pandas" is such a popular thing? Next to the animals that are endangered and which are important to the eco-tree, pandas are practically useless. They're only popular because they're cute (another case in point is WWF's logo). It's aptly named survival of the cutest. Another reason monkeys factor in so much is because in terms of appearance, they're closer to us than the rats.

Opera is planning to launch another antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft for not making their browser the first item on the ballot screen. Once the EU rules in their favor once more, they are planning another series of lawsuits that's going to unbundle Windows from Windows. I say this is a great day in the world of software - you can use lawsuits to hide your unpopularity. Wish I knew this when I was in school.

I know! I had to read it about 3 times before the picture accompanying the article gave me a visual cue. Apparently in the real world, it's a tradition to have other members of the species known as "friends" eat pizzas from the same box as yours - at the same time! Those hands in the picture belong to such a social group, though it is quite apparent that they will die very soon - either due to starvation from lack of pizza, or fighting over the last few slices.

AFAIK (in the UK at least), with a contract, you're paying x per month, and you're tied in for a contract of usually about 18 months. That 18x comes out to more than the cost of the phone. For example, look at the HTC Magic from Vodafone Total: 720 GBP which is obviously more than the cost of the phone. Or am I missing something that's US-specific?

I really like the cross-server instances feature, it's going to cut down my dungeon wait times from 8 hours to a few minutes, but looking at a few other points on the patch notes, it's like they're just making the game easier and easier.
    • Knockbacks no longer dismount players
    • To use any Meeting Stone, it is only required that the character's minimum level be 15. There is no maximum character level requirement for any Meeting Stone.
    • Creatures attacking a player from behind can no longer cause players level 1-5 to be dazed, and have a reduced chance to cause players level 6-10 to be dazed
    • These regeneration rates have been increased by up to 200% for low level characters.
    • More mana regen, lower mana requirements
    • Any party member may mark targets
    • Etc etc

So their aim seems to be to get players to level up faster... but I feel that's taking away some of the fun of the game.
