  1. Huh? on Museum Of Broken Packets · · Score: -1, Offtopic

Boy, I'm sure glad that this ssubmission made it in and my submission about Apple's ownership of the Alpha Blending patent getting in the way of the PNG format's progression was rejected.

Why yes, I am bitter about it. Thanks for asking. I finally felt like I had a story worth contributing to the masses.

Well, I certainly hope that you snuck into the theater to avoid paying money to the eeeeeeevil Warner Bros. I'd hate to see your money going to the ongoing hassles from the MPAA.

"Wait, I know! I'll /. them into oblivion!"

  5. Re:Technology combination possibilities on Surf the Net on a Digital Camcorder · · Score: 2

Really, with the iLink interface it's not that difficult to send the file to your computer. From there you can edit the film or just send the raw clip through email.

Besides, isn't it easier to type someone's email address with a keyboard than it would be with a series of toggles and buttons as you go through the alphabet and selecting one letter at a time.

This convergence of technologies is not the least bit necessary, and I would ask for urine samples of every person in Sony that thought this was a good idea.

You dolt! How on Earth would you carry a camcorder with a screen that big?

  7. Stop it with the web-enabled crap on Surf the Net on a Digital Camcorder · · Score: 2

Web-enabled cell phone service is a joke. There have been articles about it not catching on in the States. Now Sony thinks that we need both a web browser and an email client built in to the camcorder with a 2.5" LCD?

Sony has introduced the concepts of bloatware and feature creep into their camcorders. If I want to browse the Internet, I will use my home computer. I will not use my camcorder, my cell phone, my refridgerator, or anything other than my home computer.

Except for a web-enabled toilet. Attach a swing arm with an Internet Terminal to my toilet and that, my friends, will work. And nothing else.

  8. And the eBay stupidity begins... on XBox Released · · Score: 5, Funny

A couple auctions of interest. This one sold a link to where you can preorder the Xbox for a final bid of $407. Funny, considering the link is in the description and the seller says "If you decide to place a bid, then I will only resend you this website. So if you bid, you will not receive the xbox system, just a link to where you can purchase a x-box".

The other auction of note is here, where the winner gets the box that the Xbox came in. The seller is very clear about the person only getting the box that it came in, yet the winning bid was still $366.

Was a crime committed here? Nope. They were just helping the fool part from his money sooner.

  23. The Unspeakable Name on Slashdot Ghost Stories? · · Score: 2

Once, not too long ago, Slashdot died. Panic ensued, and when it finally was up and stable again there was an explanation by one of those in the know that included a timeline of events.

Within that timeline a name surfaced, and that person wasn't spoken too highly of. As the day progressed the person's involvement in the matter, as well as her mere EXISTANCE, were expunged from all records of the event. When others asked about the whereabouts of this technician, they too were removed from the common viewership.

To this day merely mentioning her name can bring to the mentioner the same fate that others before them experienced. While I have not spoken that Unspeakable Name, I fear that I have said too much already.

Go well, my friends, and keep record of these events. We must never forget!
