  1. Cheapest way is this: on Researchers Identify Wi-Fi Dead Zones Cheaply · · Score: 1

Step One: Take a business laptop or two with a wireless card (preferably with Linux installed, but we can understand...)

Step Two: Walk around the city streets carrying it. Ignore people who look at you strangely.

Step Three: Every block, take a look at your wireless receiver. Write down your signal strength. If you are in an alleyway, pay the local hobos or pay cash to the local drug dealer (note that both add cost to the mission)

Wait, the wireless network needs to be setup? Never mind then...

  2. Re:Irony on Microsoft Documentation Declared Unfit For US Consumption · · Score: 1

Reason why the law requires a graduate's degree to use is that it needs to be very specific, else huge loopholes (no, not taking advantage of the courthouse like the RIAA) could be found and exploited or terms could be vague to the average judge. For the average, non-lawyer US citizen, it is usually summarized into simple English and posted on ./ if it is a weird/obscene law.

For example, most EULA licenses contain something like this (Yes, I read one. Sue me):

This electronic code, hereby defined as "Software", cannot be copied or distributed without authorization.

Calling it software by itself makes it hard for a lawyer to define the property. Also, IANAL.

Can't really do anything about that... They 'claim' that the software is covered with a 'shared' license, meaning you can read it, but you can't copy it or modify it.

Only little, but inconclusive, evidence that gallium might give you skin rash (read: dermatitus. I'll keep buying these LEDs from Radioshack, thank you very much.

Her child was being researched by the RIAA. They would call about Ms. Anderson's daughter at work and at child's school, looking for her. Now, I am no parent, but, that would really scare me and fear for my child. As such, her mental state was suffering from these court cases, and she took leave from work and skipped court days sometimes.

Pigs, the lot of the MAFIAA.

Anderson has a lot of guts to stand up to them even after that. Cheers to her and her courage. Hope this helps put an end to the music and movie court cases.

  15. Re:But Sega makes horrible games these days on The Evolution of Sega · · Score: 1

That is partially true. The best recent games from Sega were Sonic games on the Wii and the DS. But, since they mostly publish Sonic games and nothing else, it gets monotonous. Another thing that is wrong with the Sonic the Hedgehog games: Sonic moves way to fast and causes so much frustrations over frequent falls over a cliff. The last Sonic game was supposed to be a revamp of the series ("Sonic the Hedgehog"), but, load times on the consoles were very slow for a speedy game. Not to mention, it still did not rid of the frequent falls.
