    The problem in Afghanistan (and previously Iraq) is that America is too pro-freedom to brutally oppress the people like the Germans did...

    I don't buy that. The Red Army was there for 20 years unencumbered by humanitarian sentiments the US supposedly has. They even used poison gas on several villages. Without much success.

    I doubt that there are people who think that the Universe came from nothing. It's just that it's more or less impossible to look back beyond the Big Bang, so the cause is a big question mark. Then again, the laws of thermodynamics may be local to this Universe, so violation at the boundary (in time) isn't a deal breaker per se.

    Is it according to standards that Opera often loads the wrong images when all other browsers seem to get it right?

    I'm glad that there is such a thing as Opera. It is the only modern browser light enough to run on the ancient Win2K box I'm forced to use at work but rendering oddities and doing everything "the Opera way" can be frustrating at times.
