How would they go about finding out if this guy was broadcasting within a 100 foot radius of himself anyways? Do they have people going around hunting down signals or what?
Isn't that the point of an office suite? To have everything you would need. If you don't want bloated go use vi,vim, joe, nano, pico,or abiword, or and mutt, pine,so forth.
I wish they would implement some type of spam filtering for search results.. Ever try searching for a drug? You get like 20 of the same exact webpages when you click on them it brings you to a huge spam site with the words of like 100 drugs all over the page. I find it very annoying nowadays when I goto search for alot of terms and the first 2 pages are completely spam pages with no content on them at all but a bunch of words to move up in googles pagerank
At my university I am a student helpdesk worker and everytime someone calls about spyware problems I always recommend they install firefox. Also on the cd of software we include for all 6000 students on campus we have firefox as well as openoffice. No one objects to using firefox and are actually happy to hear that it will make their spyware issues go away.
It is taking place in glen cove, LI. Only about a half hour drive for me but unfortunately I am upstate at school now unless I would be there bidding on some network equipment. I bet they would have better luck liquidating on ebay or another online auction website.
Name is the only thing I see that they dont need.... Here's why...
Birthdate... Allows to tell what age people entered college, dropped out, average age of graduation, etc...
Race.. Helps us determine if blacks or whites are in college more, how much financial aid they are recieving, etc..
Gender... Same thing, see if male or female is more dominant, who does better in school, graduation rates, etc..
I think you can see how it works now.
Address... Which locations have higher college dropout rates, which locations have higher number of people going to college, so on
SS # is there just to make sure all the data is unique and actually linked to someone. All this info could be dug up anyways from just your SS#.
They need this so they can look and see what areas need more school funding, and what areas are actually churning out students who go on to graduate from college.
IANAL but I thought silence could not be used as an agreement to a contract. I learned this in my Business Law class but I guess this doesn't apply here?
Good to hear. Just gives more people another reason to switch to the newly released firefox 1.0 browser! Hopefully the nytimes ad will be placed within the next 2 weeks and the world will be a better place.
Please create a worm that will actually destroy the users harddrive that way at work when they call up I can tell them its a hardware problem and we do not support that. Also it will teach everyone a valuable lesson in running windows update and enabling their firewalls.
yea this quiz is not accurate at all. If i could see where some of these links actually led then I could determine what is a fraud. Its not hard to make a links text a look like this http://www.slashdot.org. except slashdot helps you cheat
I will bet my life savings that it cannot detect a fake signature with my signature. I sign my checks differently almost everytime and I dont have one set signature because I suck at writing script. Id like to see how it would fair then. I sometimes scribble my name, while other times ill write the letters out.

Creating a law like this is just as effective as putting a sign on your backyard gate saying beware of the dog. It just scares the innocent people away but people will still be breaking laws. The internet is way too large for piracy, spam, kiddy porn to be ended. Of course in no way do I want a big brother situation but it's just something i have observed.
but slashdot forces me to type in these comments and they claim to not be able to communicate with me through brainwaves. And I thought they called themselves geeks!

except this involves medical uses and not trying to break encryption algorithms
