    The parent is definately right. I made a mistake of buying the O'reilly book running linux, it became outdated so quickly, that I just never used it and I found searching the web to be a better resource as well as forums like justlinux.com. The books just dont cover all the strange problems you will possibly run into.

    I would bet it was running just a test version of the kernel and a kernel panic occured and sent out a shutdown -now. It's funny anytime something goes wrong in the world some how slashdot manages to blame microsoft for it. Were they at fault for 9/11 as well? It's getting old guys.

    Your friend was probably shooting himself up. Creatine has never had any of the following side effects you mentioned. I have taken it before and only had dehydration and stomach problems during the loading phase. It is well known though that you need to drink atleast a gallon of water a day while on creatine because your muscles are able to absorb alot more water.     I know someone who has one, had it for a couple of years now and built a helicopter that had a network cam attached to it so he could fly it around and checkout the video feed from it.     I have worked for a few companies where AIM was used by almost everyone in the company. Its alot easier to IM you're coworker who is 300 yards away about something. It comes in handy when you dont want to make a phone call or you're on the phone and you can just send an IM to get something accomplished. I remember when my friends saw me sitting on AIM at work they thought i had the best job in the world, I just saw it as part of being at work, plus it was nice to be able to chat with the outside world when you were stressed out and needed a break.

    It all depends on whose doing the comparing. You have a writer from linuxworld , he will favor linux, you take a write from windows mag, he will favor windows. All these articles lead to are arguments back and forth over how biased the author is. I feel like atleast once a month there is bound to be a linux vs windows article on slashdot with not one person changing their minds about the OS they currently use and are happy with that.

    Its actually hard to believe this interview is real. Actually is there any proof that it is? Gates sounded very unprofessional and not like himself in the interview, almost like he was attacking the FOCUS interviewer. Anyone else care to comment on this?

    Anyone happen to know any share/freeware programs out there for Windows 2k that will recover deleted files. I am intrested in running it on my computer to actually see what I can recover and see how well PGP's disk wipe function works.
