  1. Kinda Old on Build A Stereo From an Old Hard Disk · · Score: 1

Didn't I read about this here on slashdot like 5 years ago? If not from here oh well, but it was at least 5 years ago I saw this page or one covering the same topic.

Perhaps you're referring to it, but there actually is a town in Italy that does not allow any internal combustion engines. Everyone uses feet, bikes or skateboards. Well I heard of this town a number of year ago in a Warren Miller film, so who knows what has changed since then.

    >The guy is no Edison.

Actually he's quite a bit like Edison according to the way many people describe Gates.

Both tried to stifle the progress of others when it cut into their own profits. Read up on what Mr. Edison did to Nikola Tesla. Oh yes you can thanks Mr. Tesla for just about every modern electrical convenience you have today. Without his inventions we'd probably just be just hitting the things that were developed in the 60's.

So, yes. Bill Gates is a Thomas Edison in some ways.

I'm worried about this also as my brother will be heading over to Iraq sometime not to long after the first of the year, but you also have to remember a lot of these people who are killing American soldiers may have been doing so out of fear of Saddam and what he might do to them if through some random alignment of the stars did regain power. As long as Saddam was free or not known to be dead there was a lot of fear for the people of Iraq.

While I don't think his capture will cure the problems our soldiers are facing; I do honestly think some of the people who were fighting us out of their fear of him, might just quietly fade away into the background and try and live as normal of a live as an Iraqi citizen can given the current cituation there.
