Yes. In a bold and unusual anti-virus strategy, that sets it apart from the competition, it surgically removes the healthy organism, and effectively quarantines the virus, on your hard drive. The hard drive can then be encased and shipped to Microsoft for forensic analysis to determine the origins of the virus and the level of severity of contamination.
Bring him along all the time, buy him plane tickets if necessary. But the important part is to make him EXTREMELY GEEKY. Thick glasses, pocket protectors, haircut. Let him wear the white headphones, the fake laptop and the fake PDA and the fake iPOD. The mugger magnet manifest.
You OTOH should look like one of them uber male models that have that faraway look like you're walking down the ramp all the time, sporting the latest close-to-body-holsters that carry the concealed REAL laptop, REAL PDA, and iPOD...
Massive dumping of home computers has been observed on auction sites ebay and ubid, never before seen, to the delight of the out-of-work or underemployed from the tech sector who have been plagued by outsourcing.
Found guilty of introducing damaging technology, the inventor was locked up in the same room as the guy that invented the car fueled by water. Next to the cell with the scientist that invented the seedless watermelon...
Porn drove the videotape industry to the point where every household has had a VCR unit.
Here the desire to 'interact' in a bubble bath setting, as seen in Emanuelle 2, is now driving the technology to develop high-tech robots, and the soon-to-be-released "hot tub" T101 will be the next hot new item...
Now we will NEVER know how many Linux desktops and/or users are out there! Getting statistics of current Linux vs. Windows desktops would be like gauging the population of Manhattan/any major metropolitan area: it would balloon upwards during the day, and drop down drastically at dusk.
A lot of readers already have this setup, yet the single scrolling page is rather old for a side-by-side dual monitor setup. Any chance that Slashdot can go wide-screen? I'm thinking multiple columns like a newspaper (the WSJ comes to mind, or any paper for that matter, but maybe a gray section in the center for your most preferred articles e.g. games, AskSlashdot, Monty Python).
Without me purchasing software, that is.
What? You mean UT could be THE Star Wars game that's better than SW:Galaxies itself??
(And now my addition to poster's comment:)
I remember the old Star Trek episodes were published, and after these pocketbooks came out, there was one which was a compilation of FAN/READER-contributed stories. The better ones were chosen and put in this book, and I enjoyed reading them, especially the one where the cast of the TV series were suddenly thrust into the parallel universe of the REAL Star Trek universe (and vice versa?)
austad is right about the dev aspect of Litestep. I used to be a huge fan of LS, but what's keeping me from returning is its [lack of] multimonitor support. Has that been improved? Inquiring minds would like to know...
They should hire that programmer from Dead Or Alive that made 'bouncing boobies' a yes/no option in the game.
IIRC 'The Year's Best SF' (I forget which one it was, 4,5, or 7) in one of the anthologies has a short story called 'The Bicycle Repairman', and it referred to something similar to the avatar as a mook

it should be pretty easy to justify the $500 or so for the scanner, ADF, and a copy of Acrobat.

One potential problem for suffering city dwellers: long lines at rush hour
I say: Bartender, make that a double, my car's in the garage, and I can see there's a long line.
No more long bootup times?
