I remember the Aliens TC fondly. Talk about immersion...it really felt like I was crawling thru some narrow-ass vents. The scare and dread factor duplicated one's initial forays thru DOOM's haunted hallways
This is where I mastered the shoot-while-running-backwards mode...heh
I loved the original Trek though, can't stand to watch it now though
I realized the next gen and all that weren't that clever when I started to play that buzzword bingo with my kids, and the word PLASMA was heard on almost every other episode
And when they thought that including the Borg would make it an action series
I run a dualhead computer, and I would like to open several browser windows as I go surfin. I tried Opera before, but it kept all the windows INSIDE the main one, forcing them all to stay on one desktop which doesn't suit me at all. With the new Opera, can I configure it so that they don't have to be 'jailed' inside the main window? Then I can drag them to any desktop that my pager has.
Incidentally, does anyone know how to customize mozilla so that when I select, Open link in new window it will open UNDERNEATH the one I'm currently viewing?
There probably is a version of "your" dream BR floating out there on the internet right now, courtesy of the same spooks that gave us a Jar-Jar-less-less Phantom Menace download version
Agreed. There are some scenes that only need to be shown for a blip of a second, that make me squeamish, but I'd like to be able to enjoy the rest of the movie, without having to explain to the kids what is going on.
ANd ditch the Jar Jar trash talk guys. Phantom Menace is about selling merchandise; the real issue is, when will Episodes 4 & 5 come out on DVD??
There was an article recently in PC Gamer or a similar rag, Where does the $50 go?, analyzing and illustrating the various things that drive the cost of a game. I was surprised at how much was required SIMPLY TO STOCK A GAME ON SHELVES at Best Buy or CompUSA; it's almost akin to paying rent for that space. Where could a company like Loki get that type of muscle? I like to believe that we install Linux for its workhorse capabilities first, and gaming second (as compared to the Redmond OS)
Good luck to the minions of Loki
It was discovered that the so called "whiteboard erasers" were actually physical storage media devised by the Russians to act as failsafe compression/zip drives, and all information that was thought to have been erased from government whiteboards could actually be retrieved with the proper decompression equipment...
Loki's port of SimCity3000 installed flawlessly on my box too. I just wish they provided some sort of GLSetup utility for us Linux'ers as well. SOmebody contact the Wachowski brothers, I believe I've found the script for the Matrix sequel in Carmack's.plan! btw, love your.sig
seriously, for Linux gaming to succeed:
Where is GLSETUP for Linux? This one stop shop is the one and only place to retrieve the latest drivers for any 3d accelerator under the sun. All windows, though:-( ALmost one click. It is also a metaphor for what is lacking in Linux.
And yes, I have paid for Loki's Sim City, and I will do the same for any game for Linux.
don't you just hate it that...
all these nifty tools (chat & IM) were around in *nixWorld for a long time, but when ppl say chat/IM to anybody else, they think you're referring to AOL's AIM/chat. And now *nix has to come up/catch up with GAIM, NAIM, etc. Gee, what'll AOL think of next?
Or is it just me, being new to *nix
Let's all agree that Linux can fit into a wristwatch, and it's been done. There's no reason to put all the goodies (GNOME, KDE) now into the Palm simply because we can. I agree with Semi_God, be original, come up with a comparable or better UI, or go the way of the Newton. The buyer won't care what's the underlying OS anyway, as long as it does the job.
Now THERE'S a metaphor I can identify with! (Especially since I'll be moving to a smaller cubi in a couple of weeks)
Then, at lunch break:
Computer! Quake1! DM4! Fraglimit 0, Timelimit 30! Reaperbot: Bill Gates! Nightmare Skill!

Still, I'd like to think that should you lose all contact with the mouse, and should it stay disabled like that for a while, it would be nice for ANY user to know that EVERYTHING is still keyboard navigable, and the GUI (unlike X) would still come up with or without that pointer.
No, not kill Dooku but wave his hand in the OTHER direction and prevent Dooku's ship from taking off
...or even use Anakin's spare hand (ducks)
...so well because of the possibility of cheating, devious alliances, people falling out of love, etc.
So one of the crew men should be Springer, as in Jerry
No, no you have it all wrong
They read the README for DOOM3's minimum hardware requirements...

For the typical /.er, this scenario can already be officially classified as a "date"

Hey I don't mind HAL not being there. Then 2001's HAL will remain science FICTION even after 4001...
OTOH I still need speech-triggered gadgets:
Clicker! Where are you?
clicker: I'm under the couch!
- OR -
Holodeck! Map DM4! 3 bots! Set to *hardcore* skill!
to name a few scenarios
dont know about you but upon seeing the pics I suddenly had a flashback of seeing the Baron Hakkonen from the Dune movie
Now he has to mod a monitor to match
I can see it now...YOUR ChiaPetPC

...if this land is YOUR land, then why do they call this place San Diego?
Wait, that's nowhere near Orange County...
