it still is the only game I play. Old skool, alright. Now b4 any HalfLife/TF lame-os start flaming, I only have one word for you: speed. I don't think any FPS out there runs as fast as my Q1 marine (excepting DOOM guy, of course)
So now my upgrade path is: 600 P3 for Tenebrae Quake
right before 2GHz P? for DOOM III.
As far as I am concerned, Carmack is God, and this guy is his only begotten son.
If you bothered to read (or even look at the pictures), you'd see that MOST of the switches turn on lights.
Kewl! And with my trekkie uniform (The Old Star Trek) I could pretend to be one of the switch-turning and knob-shifting extras aboard the Enterprise who gets killed in the first few minutes...
backlash about fixing the bug in the engine of quake2 that produced the strafe jump
and even before that, IIRC, he had to fix the Quake1 problem to avoid 'respawn fragging' where your opponent merely had to wait at the next spot where you respawned and kill you instantly, allowing for consecutive kills
IIRC, I remember installing it at work on my Windows station. It reminded me too much of IE's Active Desktop/Active Channels. I couldn't leave it installed & running because I was at work, and the desktop left no doubt that you were someplace NOT work-related (at least where I came from). I wanted to pick my channels & preferences too, but that would be taking up too much time that someone's BOUND to notice me hogging the bandwidth constantly. "NO I WAS NOT QUAKING"
I know this too well...Many times, when configuring X and the monitor gets detected, I wind up with a disappointing refresh rate because it's a no-name brand. For ages now, I have been searching for that mpeg player that spits out modelines so I can start using the CRT at the right frequency
OTOH, if I smoke that 15" monitor, it may be time to upgrade to some cheep flatpanel LCD...
Right now, without Mandrake and a few others, I still think going to Linux is a maaaaajor commitment.
In related news, Linus Torvaldis has been spotted pulling the shades in his room and stockpiling a food supply to last him an estimated 6 months. He mentioned something about 'The Zone' and 'Deep Isolation' and has disconnected all his cellular phones. THe only connection permitted into the room is through his laptop...
...i was told a while back that tear-off menus can be disabled (it's handy for the rest of you). For the life of me, I am looking for it everywhere in the KDE control center, specifically Look-n-feel. Is this item under legacy? Where can I turn the damn thing off?
Yes I was the one looking for the words 'dotted line' because that's what the thing looked like...
Okay Okay I took a look at the drop shadow screenshot, and they still have that ONE last annoying feature that prevents me from switching: the dotted line at the end of the menus. Honestly, we don't need it. Get rid of it. Everything else in KDE looks so well put together (could give Aqua some seeerious competition) but aesthetically speaking, the end dash somehow always appears to be abruptly cut off. ANd honestly I think Linux users in general know where their menus are supposed to end:-)
Yea, and thanks to Microsoft, everywhere I look I'll be needing a keyboard tray that's 3 feet by 2 feet. Ever notice that keyboard trays haven't been designed yet for the wavy-style keyboard?
I've got Happy Hacker thank you, but not for quakin

Isn't that Bridget Fonda?
WHat EXACTLY did the DOOM3 README say about minimum hardware requirements?!
1. a working knowledge of Finnish
2. jar of liquid nitrogen
3. house located somewhere in frozen European continent or Alaskan tundra
4. ???
Yes I am one of those fools (see post below)

And now I ask, Is there an mp3-to-ogg converter?
Please post links

Not if you have the Space Suit waiting in the closet....
Then one could say, Open the pod bay doors, HAL.

Does the $14999 include the self-inflating auto-pilot like I saw in the documentary entitled 'Airplane!'
Will he also check my credit history if I didn't have enough money down?
white man?
Are you referring to us geeks that live and work in the basement with the shades drawn so that the screen looks clearer?
Take that back!

Don't know whether to drool at
a. 25 Linux workstations from IBM, or
b. The Lord of the Rings sequel
Oh well, I'll drool anyway
