b) The British Commonwealth equates to 'the English-speaking world' more legitimately than the United States alone
Are you bloody kidding? The US, has, by far, the greatest number of primary and first language English speakers than the rest of the world combined. KTHXBIBI.
Yeah, I remember when I made the "upgrade" from Wolf3d to Doom...it was a legend. As much as I love the more recent FPS titles...I am not scared to go back to a little doom, Quake II, or even Duke Nukem Atomic Edition. Its like junk food for the brain.
1 - Never will happen unless a) mother nature adjusts our numbers in a way that we are not "smart enough" to stop (i.e. influenza, aids, etc...) b) someone supports their local war
2 - Never will happen unless 1 happens.
3 - Efficiency improvements are a possiblity, but these need to go exponential.
4 - This could happen as well...but everyone has to be on board.
IMHO, the only real solution at the time is population controls. Kids should even replacements for the adults - exceptions given for multiples. Of course that will never go over...because that would be way creepy.
The planet cant take many more of us and be able to support us perpetually.
I think someone said this already - but cool is king on phones but its a different cool. Functionality, sleek lines, good displays, powerful hardware - who has the sexy phones now? Who would they have to emulate?
HTC? Motorola? Nokia? Samsung?
is that it? Would M$ think about an aquisition for this? The only one that might be grabbable (in m opinion) is HTC. Just tossing that out there...I hope they dont...but it could be an interesting move buisnesswise - especially if they let HTC maintain other activities with Android in parallel.
Indeed, it's interesting that this is posted on the same day as the the Senate unanimously decides to prohibit libel tourism. The idea there was presumably that if you do something in one country, you act under that country's legal jurisdiction. Extradition would make sense if he could only be prosecuted in the US, however what he did is an offense under the UK's Computer Misuse Act and he could be appropriately punished under UK law. The only reason to demand an extradition was to inflict a much harsher punishment than the UK courts would be likely to hand down (probably less than the maximum five years).
Apples and turnips.
The idea under the libel tourism bit is to protect free speech in the America. This is a hacking case. The hacking activity is a crime in both places - and the crime itself took place in both palces. Computer Misuse was violated in UK. Hacking was committed inside the UK, but the target was in US jurisdiction.
From my POV, he should be prosecuted in UK under the terms of Computer Misuse Act and be appropriately punished (if found guilty) under UK law. Also, he should be he should be tried under US law for his crimes committed in US jurisdiction.
The dollar figure is BS - its not like he did damage to the hardware, programs, or data. But he did hack the system...and should be punished.
And regarding the Asperger's crap - that is not an excuse.
Our Cairn Terrier pulled an Evel Knievel off the couch when he was 6 months old and broke his back left leg. He got an infection (and even with treatment)...and he had to lose the leg. I can tell you one thing - he is a fighter. I carried him outside the morning after his surgery and helped him stand so he could piss. He was up walking that afternoon...and I had to stop him from running up the stairs 3 days later.
Ours runs rip-shit-riot around the house and lives a wonderful life. He plays with other dogs and does not miss a beat.
The thing is that everyone expects Apple to be evil, and Motorola has already displayed that they will bend over and take one shining from AT&T and cripple an Android deployment. I guess it was Verizon's (ironic since good phone/OS was one of the big draws to their network) turn to get some Moto...and Moto stuck it to Droid X'ers. Is Google the only one that will let us really have fun with things like the Nexus One?
the organization will attempt to present material in a way to maximize impact. Stop confusing Wikileaks with the WSJ.
And how is this different than the WSJ, CNN, Fox News or any of the "main stream media"? They are here to catch readers and sell advertising - NOT report the news in an unbiased way. Unbiased news without commentrary is education. WSJ, CNN, Fox News, et al, is entertainment.
Has wikileaks done anything besides serve as a place to publicly grind the axe against someone the poster has a vendetta against? It's a political bitch forum... nothing of value will be lost.
All snarking aside - this is a case of CSRs forgetting who they work for. They work for Verizon - NOT the customer. They have to keep "what is best for Verizon" in mind when dealing with customers.
Now true - it would be a hell of a lot easier if we, as customers, had a list of options that we could choose from so we could make the best decisions possible. But the rub is - what company would ever go for that?
Need a mod of +0 Doh! or something like that for the parent.
I mean...really. Wow.
Ebonics is not like "jive" from the 70s. Anyone who really listens can understand it - its just a butchering of southern USA english.
I thought this was a new game coming out where you did both: Grand Theft Horse 2 - The Dark Ages.

^--- Guilty!
I see I forgot my sarcasm tag. *shrug* Oh well :)
The rest are MMORG gold/item farmers.
Since when is the destruction of France a bad thing? We all know the tag for that story - andnothingofvaluewaslost

I am strangely comfortable with that idea.
Really neat - wish they would have demonstrated the grenade launcher!
But I noticed that it was a Samsung product. Is it going to get an upgrade to Froyo or are they going to have to stick with Eclair?
You would probably get the Shaolin buddhist beatdown.
$5 on the monk.

I want one.
Now.
..ooOO(Imagines taking this on the downtown connector area in Atlanta)
Two wrongs may not make a right...but three lefts certainly do.
So I have to get married because its an economic decision?
Bullshit.
I got married because I love my wife, not because I get a tax break.
You mean the last games before the Apocyclipse? *shrug* I would not miss them.

Wonder how many would like to have THAT in their achievement's list.
