It's funny how this is even possible in this country. Ironic that police want to have cameras record drivers go by traffic signals but don't want themselves filmed.
What effin' wire did this guy tap? None.
Actually, with LoL you don't ever have to pay money, not even to get Champions you want. As you play a game you earn points that can be used in the store. You can unlock every character with these points. You can spend money to unlock them more quickly and buy skins to make them look different.
Two things that you cannot use money for is runes and ability points. Runes are bought from the store with the points you earn by playing. Runes make your Champion a little better. Ability points are earned by gaining levels. These too help make your champion better.
I think they have a great business model and there is no pressure ever to buy anything. The game is fun and if you like it you'll spend the money on the champions so you can save your points for runes. Hours of fun for free so far. Will be dropping $20 soon to get more champions and to show support.
This is great. Now there will be even more condescending little snots at the Apple store calling themselves "genius".
This is what these high schoolers will be hearing...
Congratulations, you know how to use iTunes and install iOS. Now put the old sim card in the new phone so I can go home and jailbreak this bad-boy.
I bet the numbers are getting multiplied artificially. I have no proof this is how they got the number but I bet it's some broken algorithm like this:
User A has a song on limewire.
User B has the same song limewire.
User C downloads and shares the song and gets bits from both users.
User C is now also sharing the song and user D comes and gets fragments from each of the users.
Each user is potentially contributing to the theft of the song but you can't say there were 100,000 illegal downloads of the song and each user is responsible for 100,000 thefts creating 400,000 thefts. If user D never shared it, the number of thefts would probably still be the same unless someone got queued up and canceled their download.
If someone decided it was taking to long to steal a song then you can imagine their desire to obtain the song was probably not that great in the first place meaning they probably wouldn't have bought it.
I'm glad they are putting out such silly numbers. I bet people would feel less inclined to share at $3 a song thinking, "Wow, I don't really want to get busted and have to pay out $1800." as opposed to people saying, "Screw it! Let them sew me for $429,000 because they'll never see it."
If I were the owner of a fast food restaurant in Santa Clara County I'd try to close down my business and let the people of Santa Clara lose jobs over it.
You can't do anything like that though because you'd be out so much money, both past and future.
TFA says "County officials vote to ban toys and other promotions that restaurants offer with high-calorie children’s meals."
What I would do if the law actually read that way is just say "Free toy with any meal purchase." Let adults and kids have them regardless of what they order.
True, but they do have a monopoly on geek toys that sound like feminine hygiene products that don't run flash.
Adobe seems bent out of shape that they can't get on the ipad. I'm an apple fanboi and that thing is a waste of time and money and lowers your already pathetic social status.
If we program the logic for the AI and the AI system predicts outcomes it's based on the algorithm that is used to make predictions.
I cannot grasp how a computer can think of something that a human cannot because a computer only knows what we know. It is not capable of experience. As far as I can tell, the only thing AI can do is calculate something faster than humans can.
If you have a robot that learns how to move around a building without crashing into objects that learns through the experience of bumping into them it's just processing and responding as it was told to do.
Maybe I'm wrong. I'm not an AI expert but it all seems like a fancy way of saying, "I programmed a device to act how I wanted it to." All of the probabilistic data is analyzed by a person first. An AI device can only be as "intelligent" as it's creator.
I agree with this. When I was in college getting my CS degree I would always be in classes that had about 25 people in them. Out of the 25 there were 3 people that actually got it.
A lot of the students would actually pull my almost working programs out of the trash and basically copy my work. I always thought, there is no way this person is going to be able to keep their job and if they do, they are never going to go anywhere with it.
What I have found in the past 15 years is the people that get a degree that they really cannot back up with delivering results end up with jobs in operations where they sit and watch monitors all day or they move DLT tapes in and out of tape libraries and put them in boxes so Iron Mountain can come pick them up for remote storage.
If the OP is that 1 in 10 (or 1 in 8.33 as I gave as an example) he will figure out a way to get a job and from there will move up. If he's in the other group of people he'll probably struggle.
This is, of course, ignoring the fact that the RIAA and the like have been hyping the crime as equal to terrorism. In 10 years, will gitmo be full of file sharers?
Yes and we'll hear all kinds of stories about being Motherboarded and having to use Windows ME and listening to Bill Gates Speeches with the amps turned up to eleven.
I'm honestly getting more and more interested in this release simply because of all the negative noise.
My experience with Vista was minimal. I hated it. My friend was running it on a system with 2GB of RAM. 1 stick failed and I removed it. I then installed XP and he commented on how much faster his system was.
I don't know what to think. Now all I need is M$ to send me a free copy because that's about all it's worth to me. I'd be willing to give it a fair review.
if you've bothered to keep up with security updates you would have the ability to uninstall or disable the plug-in without modifying the registry by hand.
no.NET on my windows box.
never installed a service pack or an update
my system works based on the os that was on it when i bought it 3 years ago. there is no reason to let microsoft go and mess up something I already don't like by changing it.
I only use windows for one game that doesn't run under Wine. As far as my work pc goes... that's filed under SEP.. Someone Else's Problem.
I only think the govt should be involved in the net neutrality issue. I don't want providers dictating how the internet will be used by me.
As far as the other complaints people have with iPhone being only on AT&T or the developers having restrictions and the App Store rejections pretty common and plan rates being undesirable those are all things that can be settled by buying a different phone.
I have an iphone, I think the plan rate is really good. I pay $3/month for skype and can make voip calls via my phone when i have a hotspot which I do have at home. During the day I am at work and don't make phone calls. My bandwidth is unlimited so I don't have to worry about my usage there. I pay a small amount to have more texts than I can use which works out much less than 20 cents each.
My biggest complaint with the iphone is the lack of a decent set of speakers. The fact that Apple controls everything in some ways makes for a good experience. I have a ton of free apps on my phone and have never paid for one. I do think apple should let people choose if they want flash or not. If it's going to drain batteries give users the chance to disable it.
The real solution to virutally every complaint about the iPhone is don't buy one. Why should the government get involved that people made purchases without doing research?
You can't be serious. I pay $15 a month for a 750k connection, or 240 gigabytes* total data if I max it out. If you do the math that's 19 cents for a three gigabyte download of Windows 7, and therefore not "a lot more expensive" than shipping a disc.

Technically, if you were already paying the monthly bill and the download doesn't cause you to reach your monthly limit or cause you to change your behaviour in terms of other downloads it costs you nothing.
You were going to pay that money anyway.

I admit I haven't tried this out but there is a native port of zfs to linux:
http://wiki.github.com/behlendorf/zfs/
There is an "issues" tab with 20 open issues but they aren't loading for me.

Too bad the google cached links are not also ssl. That would have been a nice encrypted path into actual content.
And the probability for all future events is 50/50.. they either will happen or they won't :)
How about the iPhone uses Sliverlight!!
Wait.. something there seems off a bit.

Maybe by '90 he meant 1890 and that was a PHAT paycheck. Of course, that would make him about 142 years old which means he should call Guinness.
I'm guessing the mod who put flamebait doesn't know JT won a grammy for best Heavy Metal album. :/
I'd to see Rush squeeze into one of those bad boys.
Old School Nissan reference.. Very nice.
I don't think this girl was born when those were on the road.
Ok, who am I kidding.. I'll never have a date.
This is one of the first parts of "the cloud" ... the end is nigh!!!!

A lot of antennae are embedded in the rear glass running vertical making them look like they are part of the rear defroster.

I thought it was vi vi vi - editor of the beast
