I think it was Walter Mondale, but nonetheless, you are absolutely correct.

Hey bud, you are the one getting all irrational. In six words you couldn't help yourself from using an expletive.

  3. I hate the word "consensus" on Global Warming To Be Put On Trial? · · Score: 2, Interesting

Please define "Consensus". GW is almost purely political and socially driven. This reminds me of the Super-Gravity vs String theory debate of the 80 and 90's. No one would work on Super-Gravity as only string theory was in style (I read "Consensus" here). Turns our the Super-Gravity people had a lot right too (11 dimensions of spacetime). People don't get study grants for research into anti-GW work. Who do I sue when GW is shown to be caused by variations in this unshielded thermo-nuclear reactor we orbit?

No matter your political leanings, it is hard to argue that NASA does not provide a great return on investment. But with our myopic tendencies (Congress and Business) no one has the balls to invest what is needed to continue long-term success.

He is just naive. No one will give up their trump card. And even if they did, it may not be for the best. I submit that a world without nukes would be one with much larger standing armies. Look at europe during the "old" cold war. NATO relied on the nuke card to justify much smaller forces.

  15. And next up on Believing In Medical Treatments That Don't Work · · Score: 5, Interesting

Just wait. Next up will be treatment based on life expectancy and quality. I see this becoming an issue based on my experience working for a group of Eye docs (retinal specialists). I often see very elderly (and often demented) patients receiving very expensive treatment of eye conditions. do they need the treatment - sure, to preserve their sight. Does the treatment improve their quality of life - maybe. So who decides, the patient or family, or BIG government?

  16. Re:I think its infected my car. on Conficker Worm Strike Reports Start Rolling In · · Score: 1, Informative

It is funny how one news outlet, Fox, gets singled out so often here on /. since it does not fit with left-leaning tendencies of the "properly informed". However, those how are right-leaning think that just about all other news outlets, ABC, CBS, NBC, NPR, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, etc., are biased to the left. I am curious what percentage of journalists are left vs right leaning, if they would have the balls to say.

  17. Pimp your teacher on Cities View Red Light Cameras As Profit Centers · · Score: 3, Interesting

I forget where I read this, I apologize. Somewhere the High School kids figured out it would be fun to make copies of their teacher's plates and put them on another vehicle. Then they would proceed to run several red-lights with cameras. Teachers would get bill in the mail a few days later.

Because it is the frickin' Government, a government that is elected by people who now pay less and less tax.
