Are you doing road runner tech support? I used to work for them and they really didnt want us to do tech support, they just wanted us to have call times of 18 mins or less when I got hired, when I left it was 12 mins. Even if we knew how to fix the problem, if they werent using IE or Outlook Express on widows or mac, we couldnt help them, and I was a mac user using netscape I cant remeber what email app I was running(god Im old) but it wasnt outlookexpress *shudder* it was whatever was popular on a mac in 98-99. But I would think that if a site is available via LYNX that it would also be available to a text to speach browser, as far as other accessibilities im not sure I would know what to check for. However I am now intereseted in checking in to this because some of the people I am working with have various disabilities/handicaps.

Well Im not sure that it is invite only still. If it is, i would assume they havent hit thier critical mass (whatever that number may be) The way I figured it was that the invite only was a zero-cost advertising program that was run entirely by the customers. If you like it, you would invite your friends. Once they reach xxx # of users then they would open it up to be without invite. Kind of a social enginering type thing. See how well we spread without a drop of $$$ in advertising. But hey who knows I am probably way way off.

Unless you have my parents. They trust NOTHING that I do on the computer yet they have always refered to me as the 'little computer nerd', they would send me to thier friends houses to fix problems with a windows box but I was running a vic20 and C=64 at the time, they ask me for phone support, but as soon as we get started they hand the phone to someone else in the house that can 'understand' me, like I speak in some alien language that is completely lost on them I have over 6 yrs of phone support experience, I think I know how to talk to people in non-l33tsp34k.
I have had a computer since 82 and my mother just now let me attempt to show her how to copy and paste, I dont think she paid any attention but was mostly trying to humor me. My father asked me to look at my sisters computer in the mid 90s. It was a IBM PS2 and at the time I was working in a warehouse doing IBM laptop repair. I told him it was either the hard drive or the ribbon cable but since I didnt have any test equipment the cheapest thing would be to get a new ribbon cable,(I tried to reseat it.)if that didnt work, to get a new hard drive and reinstall windows. (I even offered to do all that if he would just buy the parts.) He tells me he thinks that 'I' should take it to a repair shop for him, I freggin work in the repair shop........ sorry started ranting and didnt wanna stop. So now when my parents ask me for help I tell em to take it to the shop or get one of their friends kids to do it for them.

Well i have not been in the same situation per say, however I am involved in some web app development that has seemingly been un edited in quite some time. So I have picked up wher ethe original people have left off. They did ask for a useage fee, but since I helped debug and troubleshoot the application I feel no need to further help line their pockets since they left me high and dry. I still use the application almost everyday in my work as a web developer but I dont feel any need to share with the originators and they dont bother asking me to. I think that if you have stumble across an abandond peice of software that has potential RUN WITH IT, hell thats what Gates essintially did and look at where he is now. Of course I hope your not so close minded as Bill and wont ruin a perectly good idea in the process. Before I start to ramble (very tired) I wish you the best of luck in your experience.
