    This is one of the stupidest posts I've ever read on Slashdot.

    Of the advantages Windows has over the Linux desktop, software management is probably the furthest thing out there.

    Linux software management with apt and yum simply ROCKS. When Windows runs into dependency issues, you're screwed. You get some vague error and code and almost every application has some kind of custom installer that you have to deal with.

    Not the case on the Linux desktop.

    Your last statement is even more stupid, for obvious reasons.

    Well, to be fair, the Open Source community has produced Ubuntu 9.04, which is probably one of the best operating systems ever made.

    Actually, Microsoft DID design and build much of the Xbox 360's hardware.

    This decision is what many people are saying is the cause of all the failures.

    Microsoft can barely handle software, I don't know what made them think they could do hardware.

    Companies like Foxconn and ASUS build Apple's hardware to Apple's specifications, as they do for Dell and just like they used to do for Packard Bell.

    Someone should fix the official GCJ FAQ:

    Given that, and the idea that languages implemented using Gcc should be compatible where it makes sense, it follows that the Java calling convention should be as similar as practical to that used for other languages, especially C++, since we can think of Java as a subset of C++.

    They basically treat Java as a superset of C++, in the same way C++ is treated as a superset of C.

    Unfortunately, Wine has better application compatibility.
