    Now I see this Microsoft bashing on Slashdot regularly and it's completely unfounded. I use a Windows-based PC and it has provided me with years of worry, virus and spyware free operation.

    In my case, the Latitude took a couple of weeks but the Mini 9 took a whole month(!).

    It was worth it though and I customized my order fairly heavily.

    So far I've bought 2 Ubuntu machines from Dell and they absolutely rock! I bought a Dell Latitude and a Mini 9. They were both rock solid, isn't too OEMified (i.e. no crapware preinstalled).

    I'm a huge Dell fan now, because they give me what I want!

    Rah rah rah, go Dell! ;)

    JavaFX could great. But Sun has thus far missed a very, very important reason Flash is popular:

    It needs an easy to use, artist friendly IDE tool

    Targeting programmers exclusively with a programming language is half the reason why applets have failed to catch on.

    The plugins for art are a joke really.

    The environments are defined in a full 3d environment.

    It's not until the end, when the coordinates are clipped for display on the monitor, that it becomes 2D.

    So the term is accurate.

    Actually, nothing prevents you from writing applications with native code.

    In fact, parts of the SDK explicitly allow this.

    However, it's generally bad idea because Android runs on a variety of hardware platforms, making native code "fun" to deal with in the future. I just hope they add proper JIT at some point, so Android's performance isn't fucking atrocious like it is now.
