One of my C++ programmer friends wrote a program to spam Sanjaya Malakar's votes last year. He used to spam the votes in favor of Sanjaya, no wonder Sanjaya went upto the last rounds!
>> I am currently tasked with finding a cost effective solution to our 30+ degree celcius server room.
First, its "celsius" and not "celcius".
On track, you need to check the SEER rating. A rating of at least 15 is good and energy efficient. Many of the Carrier models have decent SEER ratings. We use it in our office (a telecom) and its a huge saving over the old A/C which had a 10 SEER rating.
The government should redefine the word "privacy". Either reduce the power of the SSN or restrict the use of SSN in instances where it could lead to problems with public use.
And oh, make it illegal for programmers to include SSNs in SQL statements like "select * from records where ssn='xxx-xxx-xxxx'" and pass it through the URL.
We already have a LifeLock guy who goes around trumpeting his SSN and in spite of all his yak and promises, it gets abused. We don't need more people abusing SSNs this way, especially when its not theirs.
I thought some addictive computer games were actually a form of drugs, maybe you could call them e-drugs! Unless you need extra caffeine, which I think many of the marathon gamers need so that they won't die of fatigue.
Since Firefox came out, I've never gone back. I recently tried IE7 and it was crappy. IE8 beta is also not that great or fast compared to Firefox. I'm sticking with Firefox.
MS wouldn't have gone all this way without pressure from open-source. Its upto you to make a choice.
A lot of companies like Microsoft have areas for playing other games like table tennis, snooker, etc. So why not have room for other kinds of games as well?
And having the games linked to work output would increase in productivity.
Interesting shape for a PC! But for the CPU power and very high cost, its a little prohibitive.
Why can't they try something like this on the Nintendo DS or the PSP? I know there's PSPUbuntu and all that, but those are not really ported to the PSP.
In my opinion, nVidia is the best in graphics and it should stay that way.
Trying to go "up the ladder" by building CPUs will hurt it and other companies in the long run. So far, they have co-existed in peace with one another. Its just the natural flow of things.
Its about time someone counter-sued Apple for this monopolistic behavior. When Microsoft does it, everyone jumps up their seat, but when Apple does it, they just turn a blind eye.
Maybe its time to do a clean slate and revamp the way SSL works. There have been too many patchworks, band-aids, antidotes, etc. Just as the way the MIT is working on doing a clean slate for the Internet, maybe someone should consider reconstructing SSL cert process from scratch. Just my 2 cents.
I loved the movie Hackers when I saw it first... years ago. Its a pleasure asking you questions.
1. Why does everyone insist that web developers have to make their websites Web 2.0 compatible? Personally, I would prefer to have no Javascript in my websites. Does Ajax *have* to be enabled in every up-to-date website?
2. About proprietary HTML tags, Apple has released new HTML and CSS directives so that iPhone users can have a "better browsing experience". Why isn't anyone complaining about this? When Microsoft released their IE-only HTML code, all were up in arms. Now Apple does the same thing and its fad!?!
3. News sites: Why do BBC, CNN and Yahoo news rephrase the headlines so many times. During the French riots in 2006, the title initially included "Arab and North African immigrants". Then they changed it several times in the day, and it finally said something about "Unemployed youth". Why are news sites and the AP afraid of reporting the *real* news without fear from the mid-east and other PC shareholders?
4. Why is it necessary for sites like BBC and CNN to have a video version replace the text version? I think we can do with just text and maybe pictures. Flash should be *optional* and not required.
This is the User-Agent String for Chrome.
Nice browser, fast, but no java, I'm already on chrome.
Its fatter and more bulky, but definitely not faster than Firefox, Opera or Safari.
I'm sticking with Firefox, sirs.
Try India, jobs are plenty and salaries are very high. And with the low cost of living, you can live like a king.
When has Microsoft ever created a true web standards compliant browser?
Show me, and I'll retire to the jungles in the Amazon.
Umm, why is it easier for them to steal my data than its for me to synch my phone to my computer? :(
Nah, I'm not really caught in a crossfire. I still prefer my trusty old Perl over these illegitimate kids and cousins - PHP, Ruby, Python, etc etc.
How difficult is it to install the latest Perl with yum install perl?
You'd get the latest version anyway. :)

Maybe our nerds can do something like this :)
Finally, Comcast has done it "officially"...
Goodbye Comcast, here I come, FIOS.
Huh, I guess I won't be using gravatar anymore :(

I just installed Ubiquity. Its amazing. They should have done this a long time ago.
Maybe its a good idea to have the top 10 social bookmarks in there, like Stumbleupon, Delicious, etc as well.
This makes a lot of sense.

Do we have a real-life sequel to Alien 3 here?

Maybe we can find the missing Virginia laptops on ebay too!

Go Pystar!!
All they have to do is force all http requests to go to https and presto, its done.
Expecting the user to manually add an 's' after http isn't very good or safe, IMO.

Just like you, I bought real estate there and built a house on TW Hydrae. But I couldn't pay my monthly mortgage and it was foreclosed.
