This is funny because it sounds like something out of a cartoon.
The iraq contractor thing isn't funny but it's ridiculous for people to be outraged every time a contractor dies. People die in wars. That's what the bullets are for, killing people.
Something like 40% of the content played by radios has to be Canadian. So the music played is filtered once through the top 10/40/100 lists and a second time by the Canadian governments regulations.
Since many car stereos play mp3s now, people can carry more variety in a cd than what is available through the radio. Hopefully in a couple of years high speed connections will be common in cars.
I doubt the people living in American "sponsored" dictatorships had a better time than those living in the USSR. I don't believe in communism, but "anti-comunism" didn't do any good either.
Even if the majority of the people living during the renaissance couldn't do simple things like reading and writing you consider our civilization to be in decline?
When talking about freedom and equality I guess it's also safe to ignore the rights of women, minorities and people with physical disabilities. Because all of them were considered inferior a century ago.
Companies don't pay people a billion dollars for doing nothing. If they buy the licenses, they'll start getting sued by everyone who has a retarded patent.
Online games, irc, ssh, vnc. Sure, most people don't connect to their home computer when they're away... but a couple of years ago most people didn't download mp3s either.
Bash doesn't have menu selection, which makes it much easier to work with directories that have lots of files (lets you move with the arrow keys and select an item from the list of possible completions).
Completion is also much more customizable than with bash. Also, the default completion for zsh seems better to me than the bash-completion package (things like descriptions for command line options, great with mplayer).
I don't think you can really compare the two. Most American comics are about superheros. No matter how good the artwork may be, most people aren't interested in reading superhero stories.
Ok, whats the diference between the BASH/TCSH/etc shell on Linux and the same shell on Windows?
It's harder to install that same shell. AFAICT Linux is easier than Windows for people who want a heavily customized system. That's probably the main difference between the two.
I was never able to figure out how to disable icons under Windows, maybe there's some obscure registry key I have to change. Under Linux I just use a window manager that doesn't do icons by default.
So you always buy your clothes in a complete package rather than individual items?
Ok, all these analogies are pretty lame but it isn't impossible to make a skinned application fit in with the rest of the system. In some cases there might even be good for an app to look different from all the others. Of course this doesn't apply to web browsers. I'd rather have Firefox look more like a GTK2 program on my system than whatever it looks like right now.
What if your pen runs out of ink/you lose it? It's been over a year since the blackout we had on the east coast, but I've had to buy about 6 or 7 pens in that time.

I'm sure most users are more interested in improving page load times than getting a nice GUI.
Porn is (usually) copyrighted.
It's not just a normal computer, it has 40GB of local content cache. I have 140GB of HD space, but no content cache.
The sidewinder was the best game controller for the pc... somehow they managed to design a terrible one for the xbox.
This?

Typical discrimination from those with 10 fingers.

DirecTV isn't offered in Canada but people still manage to buy the service (specially now that the new card hasn't been hacked yet).
According to Adam Smith, supply and demand. It's the same reason why useless diamond rings are more expensive than water, which is essential to live.
IMO, bittorrent is the easiest to use. It almost feels like part of the browser when you click on a link and are asked where to save the file.
Most people are already used to browsers, so searching for torrents will be easier than learning another interface.

With manga there is a much wider selection of topics, like wheelchair basketball or a teenage boy who finds out he's a hermaphrodite.
What about the diamond industry?
I dismiss the UN because a single country is able to cripple its effectiveness.
His wife is in a coma.

Chess is a sport and it's less physical than programming. There are programming competitions but but I wouldn't consider those a sport.
That's because baseball is less popular than programmers now.
