Perfect analogy. Cars usually dont let you start the car in gear, have things like antilock brakes, traction control, dont have easily disabled driver airbags, have governors(sometimes), dont let u shift into random gears like park while driving(automagics) and all kinds of other consumerprotection things.

I think in general the average consumer does not have enough auto knowhow or computer knowhow and should by default be limited.

irrelevant, it's between two private parties. theres no license or merchantability, nothings bought or sold.

And if I lose my Office CD, and my hard drive dies, MS won't buy me a new copy. What's your point?

A resounding yes. You own a license, not the bits..or a copy of the bits. Getting a copy of a program you have a license for should be trivial and cost only so much as the materials. Cant have it both ways.

On a side note. How gay is MS. My father bought a bluetooth mouse kit, ms branded. comes with bluetooth dongle mouse and install cd. Cant install on his BRAND NEW toshiba cause it needs sp1. Says so in the instructions. WHY NOT INCLUDE IT ON THE CD. Nope, now he has to dl it over dialup. Good luck.

As a side note.. an hour and a half of gameboy? I think not. Its just a plus to be able to play more complex games than snake while waiting for something. I'm not 12 ;)

point is...ive always been interested in a pda to use as an organizer, but theres no way in hell im carrying that bulk in addition to my phone.

now that problem is solved. I'm usually against multipurpose devices ie : vhs/dvd players...but space is a concern with things you carry.

Basically my phone is a phone, a digital camera (640x480),a gameboy(has emulator), a pda...and more (mp3...) and of course it has internet connectivity.

christ, you are just as bad as "followers" if by standing by on your soapbox you tear them down. you are being distracted and manipulated just as much. look at how excited you got over OTHER people wanting cell phones.
