Likely what they are seeing is diabetics expel extra sugar in their urine. A lot of bacteria feed on sugars so we're probably seeing certain species taking advantage of the free lunch.
Frankly, I think the Conservatives are the worst of the bunch. Secretive and arrogant. They also have a bad habit of leaving Canadians in trouble outside the country out to dry... There is very little I find appealing about the Conservatives. This has to be the hardest hearted bunch of politicians I have seen in government in the last 20 years... and this is from someone who has voted Liberal, NDP and Progress Conservative.
When I look at this issue, one thing that comes to mind is a lot of investment banks run part of their IT operations in India. With regulations as they are in North America, how long do you think the banks will keep their operations in India if they can't guarantee security with their communications?
Holly: Busy, Dave? Lister: Well, yeah. I am, actually. Holly: Oh, then you won't want to know about the two super-lightspeed
fighters that are tracking us. Lister: What?! Holly: I'll leave you to your bubble blowing, mate. Lister: No, Hol, come on, come on. Holly: They're from Earth. Lister: Three million years away? Holly: They're from the NorWEB federation. Lister: What's that? Holly: The North Western Electricity Board. They want you, Dave. Lister: Me? Why? What for? Holly: For your crimes against humanity. Lister: You what! Holly: It seems when you left Earth three million years ago, you
left two half-eaten German sausages on a plate in your
kitchen. Lister: Did I? Holly: You know what happens to sausages left unattended for
three million years? Lister: Yeah. They go all mouldy. Holly: Your sausages, Dave, now cover seven-eighths of the Earth's
surface. Also you left seventeen pounds, fifty pence in a
bank account. Thanks to compound interest you now own
ninety-eight percent of all the world's wealth, but since
you've hoarded it for three million years nobody's got any
money except for you and NorWEB. Lister: Why NorWEB? Holly: You left a light on in the bathroom. I've got a final demand
here for one hundred and eighty billion pounds. Lister: A hundred and eighty billion pounds! You're kidding! Holly: (wearing Groucho Marx disguise) April fool. Lister: But it's not April. Holly: Yeah, I know, but I could hardly wait six months with a red-hot
jape like that under my belt.
I have 8GB of ram and set it up for 16GB of swap... mind you it's never been used in any manner. For that matter I rarely see my available ram drop below 5GB free.
For a long time I have looked at SETI as doomed to failure... and not because there isn't any intelligent life out there. Here's my reasoning. In the history of the human race, how long have we had radio? Slightly over 100 years.. that's a tiny portion of our over all development. And we can not say that we will still be using the technology 100 years from now. Just as the horse and buggy was the height of technology, the automobile came along and replaced it... and this would not have been anticipated by people in 1800. So we may be looking at a relatively narrow window for use of this technology. So to go along with this you would have to have intelligent aliens who are at a similar stage in development to us.. not too early as to not use radio waves and not beyond the technology. Consider that there are planets and stars much older and younger than our own, and even on our planet how many waves of life there have been, the odds of finding alien life at just the right level of technology would seem to be unlikely.
I have to agree that this is a pointless discussion. As long as we don't know the purpose or application required, the OS discussion is pointless. The application will usually dictate the environment, not the other way around.
I too have a 6 digit UIN with no issues with logging in. Of course if it was a service failure more going down is unlikely. If it's someone's attempt on the service it may get worse.
Ahh, yes. The Microsoft Crack dealers. Here little boy, try this! It's free! It makes you feel good! Your head doesn't feel so good? Don't worry, that will pass. You need another hit? That will be $299 and I'll give you this nice pipe to go with it too!
Having grown up in a house with both parents as ham ops (and holding a licence myself),I remember in the early 80's we messed with the minds of other amateurs when we rigged up our C-64 to our HF rig. That puppy was capable of sending 180 WPM.... was a nasty trick to play on the guys out there sending by hand..increment speed, increment speed...
I have been doing tech support for 3.5 years now and counting. I still have all my marbles, just not always sure where they may be located. I understand people's frustration when dealing with a tier one support level. Where I work we started out with some very good selection of people with all kinds of qualifications and smarts. The hard part was our hands were tied, policy preventing us from doing the job in a way that we would prefer or go as far as we would like. Over time with turn over the quality of the people being brought in has declined significantly with more emphasis being placed on customer service skills than actually fixing the problem. That combined with working for an outsourced company which gets paid by the phone call, you can see that the emphasis is never about fixing the problem, it's all about answering as many calls as possible.
Well another way to look at this is allowing patent law to declare ownership of the mouse could be extended to a genetically modified human in the future. Can you own a genetically modified human? Is a genetically modified human not a human? Could we legally be creating a new slave class?
I only use MS products here at work at the helldesk, not my choice, simply what my workplace mandates. At home I have declared an MS free zone and am quite happy that way. In fact I know at my workplace everything that is done with an MS product could be easily replaced with Linux.

Heck, why don't we blame sprinkling iron sulphate on the pacific?
I see green people! EVERYWHERE!

I see nothing of proprietary value here... It's just a whole bunch of references to functions and type definitions .. in a stupid header file.
Keep an eye out for the Silver Surfer

I hear that the Chinese navy is going to be deployed to fight the pirates... how ironic!
40 pounds at 100 MPH? Think speeding on the highway and hitting a dog.

Lets see.. this exploit combined with a bind exploit equals a huge nuber of "windows updates".
