I will admit, other than those damnably terrible colour conversions/choices, Calc works mostly well for me. I just used a Calc problem in my above post because I have it open right now.

Other than their Wiki (and in-program help), is there a good place for finding random help/insight/tricks for using OpenOffice?

I think that MS will have a hard time maintaining market share in the next 30 years on the desktop market. [...] over the long term, there's no way that MS can keep on charging for upgrades to software when software with the same features can be had for free.

Features is one thing, but efficiency is a totally other ball game. And maybe it's just me (and I do use more advanced features that many other people), there's no way in a frozen hell that OpenOffice is going to catch up to Microsoft with that.

For example, adding cells into Excel/Calc. In the Calc version I have*, I can only add 1 row/column of cells at a time. If I need to do it 5 times, not only do I have to do multiple clicks to add in a single row, I have to do that five times. There doesn't seem to be any easy keyboard shortcut even. In Excel, I can just highlight 5 rows and add them all in at the same time. Even better, since I do this a lot, I have a button setup so I can do this is far fewer clicks.

It's small crap like that which really adds up.

*Yeah, I'm running version 3.1 right now, but I'm not holding my breath that this specific upgrade is in 3.2. I will be looking for it though.

Wii supports four Wii Remotes and four GameCube controllers per console. Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii allow for up to four players, and I've read about Wii games that allow for up to five.

Amusingly, there is a game that actually has a mode which allows up to 8 people to play simultaneously: Bust-A-Move Bash!

That said, that mode is fucking terrible, but it exists.

Adjust the scenario so that in some minutes one side or the other will receive reinforcements if they haven’t been eliminated, and you won’t have the two camping snipers. One of them will have to seek out and kill the other, die trying, or be suddenly faced with very bad odds.

That's a good start. You then have the issue of games lasting literally forever, but there can still be mitigating factors added into that (such as win by points after X minutes, or if Y team stays above a certain player count for Z time they win, etc).

With the whole rise of casual gamer shenanigans going on, making games realistically punishing isn't lucrative in the slightest. Even the most successful hardcore/brutally evil game that has come out recently, Demon's Souls, has a lot of unrealistic elements in it (such as excessive hit points, predictable AI, magic, etc).

Well, I hope that isn't the case. I remember when I was going through post secondary, when my Professional Development instructor was going over why you don't want to waste the time of someone who's interviewing you, because if you ballpark what they make in an hour, then take into account the amount of time to:

-Listen to initial cold calls/read resume
    -Interview you
-Do any other administration work to get you hired
-Introduce you to the working environment

That can be multiple hours, which indeed can be multiple thousands of dollars.

It really is a shame that this game isn't planned to be multiplayer, as it sounds like it has potential. That said, one of my roommates has been playing Mushroom Wars (I believe it is called), which is a PSN title that is an interesting take on the RTS genre as well, but we both feel that the game promotes defensive play way too much, which would make multiplayer absolutely terrible. So maybe it's for the best, or maybe Eufloria may not suffer from that, and something cool with multiplayer could happen.

I've seen apps I worked on available to be pirated within 24 hours of release (before most people even knew about it, and it was a sequel to a previously successful game).

The big thing is that the games for the iPod Touch are very, very cheap compared to the prices for the DS and the PSP.

Which is why there are DSi Ware titles and PSP Minis. Both are pretty sad attempts to capitalize on the market (DSi Ware has a few gems, but is otherwise extrordinarily small, and PSP Minis right now are basically just a few iPod Touch ports for double the price), but they do exist.

Tetris is between zero and two bucks on the iPod Touch, while it grosses more than $30 on the DS.

That's also because the DS game has wicked multiplayer (including an excellent handicap system and revenge system), items, superb gameplay physics, and other features. You're not going to get that at even half the quality on an iPod Touch (unless all you want is solo, simple gameplay, in which case you can easily get what you want for less with a Touch).
