Actually, not a troll at all. The same thing happened to me.
I was hanging with friends in the Bay Area one night when one of them said "Hey, there's captain crunch". He was just hanging out. So I started talking to him and he offered to show me some things and talk to me more. Being 19 and so excited to meet one of the all-time heroes of phreaking I followed.
Next thing I knew Mr Crunch was on my back (literally) and basically getting himself off. He's an odd, odd, odd odd odd bird. I shook him off and took off as quickly as I could.
I'm a sysadmin... in a previous lifetime I had to run Windows.... why do I hate windows?
* The six days in a row in 1997/1998 I had to battle hackers that had figured out how to reboot our windows nt 5.1 server from the net (firewalls weren't what they are today). * The countless weeks I lost because of Exchange server disk becoming full; * For exchange sucking such major ass ( before version 6.0) and failing when a disk filled up * The countless hours I lost when SSL suddenly stopped working in NT one day, * The unbearable and unthinkable number of times I've had to re-install windows when it became corrupt, * The countless hours at christmas, thanksgiving and every other trip home I had to spend on the number of spyware and viri I've had to remove on my parent's computers (Because they have an app they need that needs activex)
And while I'm at it...
* Because of ActiveX and other closed systems, * Because every OS upgrade requires new hardware, unlike Mac OS where ever OS Upgrade runs FASTER on older hardware than the old OS
And speaking of OS...
* Because of the registry, fuck the registry and fuck all the fucking registry hacks I've ever had to do, * Because of the way they code their apps assembly line style in Redmond, * Because of Bill Gates, and his hate of everything open and open source.
Thank you, you bastard troll for making me type this.
I get to 98% on bark on the moon on expert... it's killing me. Frets on fire sounds like a blast. How did you get the guitar hero connected to your macbook, just and adaptor?
Let's examine other Oracle attempts at open source

Oracle Linux Explored
·
· Score: 1
First, I couldn't agree more that installing Oracle on linux being a total PITA. There're some truly arcane and painful steps in there. The database truly lost its luster for me years ago after I found out how great MySql and Postgres could be.
But how about the Oracle application server? A truly horrendous piece of shit that makes most SAP installations look like pure genius. One of the big "selling points" of their App server was that it used "the open source Apache web server". Oh joy.
This was great until the chunked encoding bug came out with Apache. I was caught supporting several external instances and they were fully vulnerable. No problem , it's Apache right , just fix it ourselves? Wrong, the custom modules are closed source, so you can't compile them for the upgraded version.
To add pain and suffering, Oracle said they had to do a full regression test on any fix and estimated a delivery time of something like four to six weeks for a fix. Their solution? Just turn it off to the outside. Firewall it off. Lovely. What we finally had to do was install a proxy in front of their web server.
I'd love to see how they treat any potential security issues. What a security fiasco. I really hate the fact that Red Hat has to suffer stock price loss as a result of the 500 pound ape throwing its idiotic weight around. This is just a security and performance fiasco waiting to happen.
Damn straight. If anyone remembers using 300 baud modems , then 1200 then 2400, 128kbs is like gold. So there's no good real-time playback but who cares.
Hell, that's two ISDN channels, that was the high speed internet of 10 years ago.
Bad timing, actually a big thunderstorm rolled through and the platform took several direct hits. Nothing hit the shuttle itself because of the series of wires and towers that they have installed to draw the lightening away, but they are still going to take the day today and tomorrow to inspect everything.
There are some ok photos of the direct hits to the tower.

Q: Isn't this whole "technology for kids" thing getting out of hand? We live in a technological world. There's no escaping it -- and who would want to?!
While I never got to play Dragon's Lair for all the reasons people have posted (too expensive, line too long, looked way too tough) there was another game that came out that had the same annimation and interface that I did get to play.
It was some type of spy/noir game set in the 40s or something like that. You had to drive up some curvy road hitting the joystick at just the right moments. That game was pretty cool and i seem to remember it probably because it was animated so nicely.
I'll have to hunt around and see if I can find what it's called unless someone else remembers.
Your comment seems to indicate that this is somehow the fault of Google.
Actually, it's without doubt the fault of the greedy Verizon corporate leadership that needs to make money on every single move of a finger that you make.
The retention policy at my company is to delete everything. We're to delete our email, our files, all types of data. Delete, delete delete! Until you get a notice from the legal group that nothing is to be deleted, then you don't delete anything.
Seems like a better way to do things. But it's still pretty painful because it's hard to keep things for reference without breaking the company's policy.
Don't know where you are, but the comcast microsoft software DVR sucks ass, among its many flaws:
1) No 30 second skip
2) No ability to send content to my psp or computer
3) Frequent crashes
4) No upgradeable drive
5) Frequent "forgetting of series" and forcing me to re-enter them
6) And most importantly, that it's a microsoft product.
Call me cynical, call me what you may, but I think this value judgment is totally off. In short, the elements being compared and how they relate to your daily life are skewed.
If I were the receipient of one of Gates' grants, I'm sure he would be my hero. At the same time I think it's great that he's putting his vast fortune to so much good. That's all brilliant.
However, on a day-to-day basis, I get joy and productivity gains from using Apple products and Apple OS. I get pain and suffering from using Microsoft products and Microsoft OS. So daily, Jobs does more to make my life better than Gates.
Now, there any many people who give generously of their time and money. Each person has to give based on his or her ability and level. If you're the richest person in the world, well, you better give more than anyone else. I believe a large part of Gates' public face on his charitable giving is to offset the negative view of him by so many. It's probably related to some sort of pent up negative view from his childhood. Who knows.
In any case, you can have Gates and Jobs as your hero, it's not an either or thing. This topic is so close to a troll that I considered not replying but here it is anyway. Now let the mac versus pc debate continue into its 3rd decade now.
Hmm..i guess if you're basing your judgment of obsolescence purely on 64-bit versus 32-bit processing. Let's take the topic of this thread stick to it, Firefox is not going to be obsolete because of the lack of 64-bit processing. Neither are a host of other programs.
In fact, benchmarks suggest that 64-bit processing is slower for certain applications. However, put the benchmarks aside and just look at the market today, there are as many 32-bit desktops being sold as 64 and no onee is calling them obsolete.
You need to make your purchase decision on what you're going to use the laptop for. Personally, I'm a hobbyist photographer, hobbyist programmer and full time network engineer. The many features of the MacBook will incresae my efficiency and let me do my full time job. I will not suffer for lack of 64-bit processing.
Take a look at what you need, if 64-bit on a laptop is what you desperately need, then please hang on until next year!
Look at the Nikon D50 or the D70, the price point of the D50 is $600 or so (US $). You may also look at similar cameras in Canon. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg. Both Nikon and Canon offer sub second startup to picture time and also 3 to 5 pictures per second.
You do not have to put up with shutter lag. Go to a site like dpreview.com and doa camera search and specify shutter speed, I believe there are several non SLR type cameras that also offer that great response.

I guess we'll see when the product is actually released... it's also worthy to note that the macbook ships with a DVI to VGA adaptor itself
For the Spec:
Video Built-in iSight Camera, DVI, VGA (DVI to VGA adapter included)
There's a $19US donggle that adapts DVI to s-video.
