Except that a space evlevator would be cool! Somehow this reminds me off the Transmeta rumors back then (you know the website with the hidden message in the source HTML?) , oh, those were the days. Somehow us geeks need stuff to dream about, Google seems to be the saviour of the day...
It's just the feel of the game. The opening soundtrack, the jokes, the cheesy story. It's like reading your favourite book again. The tentacle, the pink car, the red button, it's simply a really entertaining game.
Ok, from what I understand the opening of the code was not even requested by the E.U. The whole issue was about an unfair advantage by using their desktop monopoly to push certain software with Windows (such as IE, MediaPlayer so on...)
So I think it's perfectly fine that the E.U. doesn't accept this, as it wasn't part of their requests in the first place. The purpose is to split Windows in parts again so everyone has the same chance of distributing third party software. The opening of the code has nothing to do with it and is just smoke and mirrors tactics by MS.
He is braindead, right? Without even mentioning the lack of groupware functionality that Exchange has and even ignoring all the opensource alternatives out there why whould any company want to send and receive mail with a lame @gmail.com? They pay money for their webpresence, right? Amazing with what some smart-asses get away with. Please tell me he's not rich or successful in his filed of "expertise".
Come on. GMail is a public beta. I fully understand that this is a stupid bug but then again, who is using gmail to send critical mail? I must say that this somehow makes me feel ok for my first mailserver that treated Upper and lowercase adresses different. It took my a few days to find the proper setting in Cyrus.
It's kinda embarassing for a company like Google but still, that's what betas are for.
As a child of the 80s you should be aware that all things Apple are revolutionary. Even if, well, they are not. iTunes? Well, Napster was there almost 7 years before, no hype. USB? Until the iMac it was there but nobody cared. I could go on. It's Apple, man!! Apple!;)
You might wanna check out this little gem even if it's a bit more expensive. Pretty cool device and has everything you could possibly dream off. Forget the iPod.:)
I made the mistake of my live by selling three bags full of Lego/Lego Technic for 200 Deutschmark at a school tradefair back in 7th grade. Well, I thought I made a good deal back then, but today I know that guy totally ripped me off.;-(
Yup. I am myself sometimes amazed by the laziness some people get away with. Basically 25% of my job as tech support consists of reading manuals for devices I know nothing of. The funny thing is, I usually figure it out pretty fast once I read it. The fact that I have to read it for lazy bumps that call techsupport because they don't want to read it themselves pretty much sucks, though: "NO! I haven't dealt with that X345R device either! I am not even smarter than you. I simply read the manual wich you refused to do."
Sometimes I have to wonder how submitters get through with word-by-word copying from other sites. Is there really nothing else happening/bothering anyone?
Well, there is this friend of mine who is well, waay adipose and chronically out of a job. This guy spent four days in front of his classic Xbox only stopping the game when his wrist had a fracture. Man, if only I'd live in the United states and not in germany we would have gotten rich together. I would have made this a case to remember:
"Look at that sad man, no love, no job, no perspective and your freakin' large controller even ruined his gaming experience!". But well, in germany this gets you nowhere.... Looks like I gotta look for another way to cash in on other peoples misery... Any ideas welcome!;)
Ouch! I just made myself a complete idiot. Please mod the above down really quickly. This autoskip stuff on the page made me slip both of them. They are of course on the list!;-)
Well, I am at this company now for nearly a year.;) The company before was mostly windows based and I was doing desktop support there wich is why I left. Well, give Slack a chance. If the company exists in 10 years, well, I still think I will move away from some of the older Slack boxes. Uptime is not the only thing that matters after all.
As an admin of a dozen of boxes that handle almost anything from webserver, Tomcat/SQL Server to mail/OpenXchange Server and since last weekend a Samba Domaincontroller to name a few, I must say I am the most happy Slackware User in the world.
Stability, flexibility and sanity are the main reasons for me to use Slack.
Personally I like my uptime in the three digits and a straightforward configuration. This is where Slack delivers for me. Combined with Dropline Gnome it also makes the most lovely Desktop box.;)
Personally I'd be happy if my milk woulnd't get sour everytime I fire the beast up. OO.orgs speed issues is the major showstopper for me. And I am running it on Windows AND on Linux. Linux is even worse, sadly. Not exactly good advertising when trying to talk someone into switching OSes.
Yup. Spot on. Actually old mobiles start cluttering up my desk. Last week they were handing out one year old Siemens phones at my company. Someone brought them in so we could sell them on ebay, but in fact they weren't worth the hassle so I got one and used it during the Oktoberfest were I tend to loose or break phones (so would you, trust me!). By chance it survived and I will keep it around in case I need a rugged, inexpensive mobile. I still use my Nokia 6210 occasionally and it has great sound quality, one week of standby and the most intuitive interface. They sell at ebay for 20$. My everyday phone is a 6230 wich has everything I could ever ask for except, maybe, a decent text editor for reading project gutenberg books on the road.
But hey, that's just me and a small java program can solve this in a minute. Anyone has pointers on this?

Ok, so just don't use it and cool down.
This is just not true.
You can order a Dell without an OS. At least in the US.

I always figured him to be the single richest fictional person the world!
What about Mr. Burns??? I think this list is incomplete!

Obviously a fake, just look at his hands, he's never get that wrist through the sleeve of the jacket he's wearing.
Forget shooters, now what I'd really like to play inside this would be a game of Sonic the Hedgehog. :)
