One of the big reasons for vigilantes is the lack of response from authorities.

I'd love to see a little justice done to the big spammers, and to the 419 people. The law won't do anything unless enough money is involved to get the bureaucrats off their butts.

  3. Re:The reasonably prudent broadcaster on FCC to Require Broadcasters to Keep Tapes of Shows · · Score: 1

Prior to automation software, we kept a log tape (svhs) on a very slow record - 8 hr tape records 24 hours, which was used to verify if a spot ran with a customer who insisted it hadn't.

This type of recording won't meet the standards the fcc is talking about here due the sheer loss of information from this type of time lapse recording.

What this proposal would mean financially is a disaster for small market stations - $200+/hour for every hour that is aired - a tremendous amount of cash. It won't bother ABC etc in Los Angeles or New York, but how about West Virgina, or Nebraska etc?

And no we don't keep recordings anymore - 90%+ goes through servers and gets dumped afterwards.

Its time to just abolish the FCC.

Its replacement, a 2004 Z06, is stickered at 19/28 and I'm seeing 18.5/33-35 quite respectable and 405 hp to boot.

I love it when some econo-box criticizes my sports car as a gas guzzler and finds out I get better milage than they are :)

"Why does it "seem" to be really important to know this in the US, and completely irrelevant here in Aus ?"

Fallout from the gas crisis of the 70s - our government has mandated that cars produce certain mpg or they get hit with a "gas guzzler" tax, which tops out around $4000 for the biggest drinkers - Vipers, Lamborghinis, etc.

Also the mpg is on the sticker as a shopping guide for comparison purposes for those who care about such things. Exempt from this are large trucks/suvs, which of course get the worst milage and don't pay a gas guzzler tax.

You'll need to do some leg work. The stuff I had to deal with all came from fax.com - they were trying to create a "non-profit" loophole by sending the spam on behalf of The Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Once I got that part, I contacted both the Center AND thier major sponsors. The spam stopped very quickly after that.

For the vacation and interest rate spam, it will take a bit more. You are going to need a phone line that you can throw away - prepaid cell phone maybe? - and possibly a PO box. The only way I know of to identify these scum is to act like a sucker and get them to contact you - play along and get the necessary info for making payment, etc. and you've got them.

    Good luck.

F1 has been trying to keep the costs somewhat sane, and the turbos were causing problems. The cost of running a F1 team for a weekend will run an indy car team for an entire season.

In some cases yes. Many of these people are a complete and total failure beyond redemption. Thats what life/death sentences are for. Thats why we have 3 strikes laws. Large numbers of vocal people are fed up, and have demanded politicians do something about these types of people, so we get the mess that is our judicial system. Its not perfect, but if you travel the world you will find its still one of the best.

"In prison, a person is usually raped several times. Which do you think would cause a person more pain physically and emotionally? Especially, in prison where the prisoner will probably never see his torturer punished for the act. All because society thinks it's a funny issue."

Its not funny. However the fear of this kind of abuse is probably more of a deterent to crime than the actual sentence itself. Personally I'd love to load up a few weapons and put some of these spammers out of societies misery, but I have no desire to spend any time under care of the state or federal government.

I have absolutely NO sympathy for this spammer, and would be delighted to hear of his untimely demise. More likely, he will end up in surgery getting his rectum sewn back together. Guess he should have thought about that before he stole all those credit acounts.

Here he has received the item but didn't pay for it, (nor did he have any intention of paying for it).
