- Having to run vacuum all the time to help the query optimizer figure things out. Why this doesn't happen automagically in the background without me having to worry about it is beyond me.
I sick of reminding people to link the URLs in their posts. You should also check if the links you provide actually exist. Here's how you provide a good link.
May I suggest the flashblock extension instead. It replaces the flash animation with a box containing a play button. Click the play button if you think you want to watch the flash animation.
What google has indexed is stuff you have posted on the web or newsgroups for everyone to see. So what's your problem with that being seen by all? Are you planning to send cease and desist notices to all groups and mailing lists where you've posted lame stuff in the last 10 years?
How did you read "Google may use their search technology" to mean your private mails will be searchable by all. You really do post lame stuff.
A common argument used by open source advocates (myself included) in favor of open source is the simple question: 'Would you buy a car with the hood welded shut?'
... they look vaguely reminiscent of HTTP, only they're UDP.)
Not just vaguely reminiscent. SIP message formats (request/status line followed by headers) are pretty much like HTTP headers. The response codes like 200 (OK), 404 (Not Found) too are from HTTP. SIP implements authentication using the HTTP digest authentication scheme.
Most of the early SIP implementations were on UDP. TCP is however the mandatory transport to be supported by SIP end-points and servers. SIP also works over TLS.
Let's summarize the discussion that this is going to trigger: Whine 1: X is slow and bloated we need a replacement. Response 1: The XFree86 implementation may be slow and bloated and not the protocol. Response 2: Come up with something better and we'll talk. Whine 2: Who uses the remote display capability of X anyway? Response 1: On local displays X uses shared memory and is fast enough. Response 2: If 5% of the users need the feature it should be retained.
You'll need to install ghostscript and ghostword but at the end you'll be able to convert docs at the click of a button. I used to convert docs the way you don till I found this.
Next to my text editor I have my console in which I type make and my app gets compiled as easy as 1,2,3
With vim it's easier invoking make from the editor. The errors and warnings are redirected to a tmp file . Type ":cwin" and click on the error to open the source at the line where the compiler barfed. Surely Emacs would have something like that.
Vim with ctags and cscope does everything I need from an IDE.
I also use the error file feature for preparing code walk throughs for newbies in our team. Load the tutorial in VIM like an error-file and click on "errors" in the text to open the source you are describing in a split window.
The authentication systems that have been added on to SIP and H.323 in order to restrict access are not very well designed and mostly send the authentication details in the clear (not encrypted) so that someone with access to the network can compromise them quite easily.
Bogus. The guy hasn't heard of SIP over TLS or S-MIME payloads in SIP signaling.
Yeah right. Lemme give you your first lesson. Repeat after after me: grammar and not grammer grammar and not grammer grammar and not grammer grammar and not grammer grammar and not grammer

This usenet article on how a partially deleted filesystem was restored with some ingenuity makes an interesting read.
When did you last try FireFox?
Both features are there in 0.10.1.
Simplest workaround:

Just resize the fonts and the re-rendering will be correct.
More answers to that one.
Sounds alimentary to me.
Could it be because people are more likely to place stuff on top of the boxes rather than lean things against them?
Probably, the submitter intended irony, but failed to convince
No. He couldn't have intended irony.

Oops... Nothing against the proposal in the article. I meant the slashdot discussion any aritcle on X triggers.
