i believe that 20Mbit down still only comes with 768kbit up, 10x down but only 3x up, and their shaping, and that your unlikely to get 20Mbit, and that most cheap routers wont support that speed etc etc http://allyours.virginmedia.com/html/internet/traffic.html
just laying around, old laptops are FOOBAR or donated to 'needy' relatives, and it seems to me latptop speakers will by tinny regardless of how many you stack on top of each other, if something isnt capable of producing base, it doesnt become capable of it just because youve got lots of them.
laptops are fine for watching media on your own, but they are not a home theater, however they could be a nice low power consumption media center once you plug in a decent screen and speakers
i make this about 48GB/s, my hard drive manages about 20MB/s, even my mid-range ram manages only ~6.4GB/s, and top end ram will reach only ~13GB/s (according to wiki) so even ignoring the ability to process that much data in that time, the ability to simply move that much data is quite impressive (at time of print, may not hold one year down the line)
i thought it was possible to select what kind of content you were ok with having in your hosted google ads, i.e able to choose not to have anything mature advertised on your site
i have to wondwe why you might want one of those unless you were after to proove rule 34, or were a racist, unless you were maybe doing some research into such things, but besides, i wasnt aware that google filtered out porn or hate-sites
my computer can take atleast that long to get past the bios screen before it even starts to boot vista, if we are going for 15-20 second boots, the bios needs work aswell as the OS
for a start the measurement in the summary is in newtons not newton seconds like in the wiki article, so in theory it could be any of those depending on how long it lasts, i.e 440N for only 0.005s would be an A motor, also the wiki article looks to be for rocket motors, not for controlled thrusters, so in all likelyhood, your question is nonsense, sorry
as people have pointed out, lots of ram isnt really relevant, not compared to its TFLOPS rating, especailly considereing its intended use. a quick google finds this: http://fxvideocards.com/PNY-Nvidia-Quadro-FX-5800-4GB-PCI-E-VCQFX5800-PCIE-PB-p-16430.html which seems to suggest it comes in at about 1TFLOP, which compared to the ATI HD4870x2 2GB capable of 2.4TFLOPS at only £350 ~US$550 makes for apparently quite poor value
my mid range processor does about 0.5GFLOPS, which means those available on the market probably range from about 0.1-2GFLOPS give or take, and then theres graphics processors, which are capable of TFLOPS these days, so there could be a factor of about 10^4 in the number of FLOP's done, i know that astrophysics often has order of magnitude calculations, but that's just a bit useless
i've actually got all my case fans unplugged, which lets everything run fine since i dont OC anything, its just the stock cpu fan, graphics card fan and PSU fan left, but ive not got on my hands and knees to figure which is the biggest culprit, my guess is the cpu fan, but i dont really wanna risk running on the heat sink alone, and it doesnt bother me enough to buy a quieter after market HSF
even with current growth, i cant see a 256 core cpu in the reasonable future, does MS maybe expect multi-processor motherboards to start creeping into desktops?
if this is only for an HPC edition, it doesnt seem like much, cpus with 8 cores are available now, so 16 core chips seem likely in the not to distant future, which would only allow 16 processors, with quad processor boards available now, that would mean your core limit could be reached in just 4 boards.
im no expert but this seems either totally excessive or nowhere near enough
on a side, how many cores do vista, xp etc support?
the fans are the noisiest part of my computer, and always have been on any computer ive ever had. However i do occationally hear the click-click of the head moving, but never the whine of the platters, will this sort that out too?
ive seen another hard drive silencing technique elsewhere that's even cheaper, although possibly not quite as effective, which is simply to mount it with rubber bands in a 5.25" bay rather than screws. http://www.spodesabode.com/archive/content/article/hddnoise
but for something to spend 10% of its time under maintainance probably means you're doing it wrong
and surely its better to find a save money by reducing cooling costs rather than shutting down servers, or if youve got spare capacity why not rent it out to someone who doesnt what to have to look after a server themselves to justify it being on
is weather it will beat spore in terms of piratebay downloads
i vote yes

yes, but to do that you have to wait for the earth to move to the other side first

the problem is i drive a toyota yaris and its actually a pretty good car...

probably not, its not designed for that sort of thing so its a stupid question to ask, nd probably uses linux anyway
well that got that one out the way
well thank you, that's very interesting/insightful, although ive yet to figure out how to 'mod up' in such a manner

well that went over me, maybe slighlty too subtle for me
i doubt its either

that sounds a pretty useless measurement

id much rather have 5 blades in a laptop than in a razor
but then, they dont want to admit that their protection got cracked and the game torrented before they even knew they were going to be making it.

encrypted!=secure
can't=shouldn't
especially WEP is a joke to crack
correct, there arnt anywhere near the number of high rise buildings in london as there are in e.g new york
that will just make this a whole lot easier if i ever have to move to london
