Some of Anels Adams photographs are controversial because of how much he manipulated them in the lab. For instance he wanted to take a photograph of nice scene but didn't want the building in it. So he dodged and burned out the building in his lab. Then no one could tell there was a building in the photo. Digital would let Ansel attain his goals much easier.
This is one of the sharpest lenses made, by public opinion and lab tests. Shoot it around f8 for the sharpest image. It's also pretty cheap, I think I got mine for around $80.

Of course, the matching handset will decrypt the message.
As opposed to those phones where the matching handset doesn't decrypt the message. Too bad the market for those isn't larger. I have quit a few algorithms that can encrypt voice into something that can never be decrypted.
If a big battery company used their money on R&D, they could make a perfect rechargable battery. Then no one would have to buy lots of disposable batteries anymore! Or could that be the very reason rechargable battery technology hasn't improved much? Hmm...
Try watching someone ride a bike while talking on a cell phone. Sounds dumb, but I used to see it in Boston all the time when I rode my bike to work. One guy was slowly wobbling down the street while talking on a cell phone. He continued to wobble down the street and through a red light and was greeted with an ensemble of blaring car horns. Luckily the cars braked fast enough before creaming him. Something needs to be done about banning cell phones while driving (or biking). A huge insurance increase on your car if you're caught driving with a cell phone would be nice.
Considering how cheap hard drives are now (about $100 for a 150G disk) it's better to buy multiple hard disks to back things up.
I've decided that if I want to back up my important media for my business, I am going to make a storage machine. Basically it will be a low end machine with a fast network connection and a lot of hard disk space. Each night when I want to back things up I'll send all the files over to the backup machine. To be extra safe I would double the drives in the machine and setup a chron job to copy files from one disk to the other and mirror the drives. That way if one physical disk fails, the files are backed up on another. Also, I'd give it a wireless connection and put it on a very well surge protected power strip. That way lightening is less likely to get to it. Yes, call me paranoid, but I've lost so much data due to media failure that I don't take the risk anymore.
I thought Microsoft said they were the leader of innovation? If so why don't they innovate a new search engine technology instead of buying someone elses? Or has MS always meant "buy out" when they said "innovate"?
IANAL but how about every coder who has contributed to Linux, get together and file a class action lawsuit against SCO? SCO's current move violates everyones contribution to Linux. I think a lawsuit that combines as many FOSS developers as possible is the only way the GPL will get the financial backing to fight SCO.
Someone should put up a website that will coordinate this effort. Someone, or some group, should get a lawyer and discuss the problem. I would start something but I know nothing about law.
I'd rather have a monopoly based on OS/FS rather than proprietary, commercial software. At least with the OS/FS you can do Anything you want with the software.
Do Suse and Redhat really need to compete with each other? Fighting Microsoft is bad enough, do they need to fight each other too? I think a better business strategy would be to work together and increase their power.
What if a company is suspicious of the NSA not following the license it was given? It's not like the government is going to let a commercial company into the NSA to audit all its computer systems. I suppose it will all be done on the honor system.
What about using MAS (Media Application Server) to provide network transparent sound? MAS already does this outside of the kernel and could be integrated into the kernel.
I thought this was another SCO article.

How long until everyone at SCO drinks from the bowl of Koolaid? I mean, does everyone at SCO believe what Darl & Friends are saying?

But when it does, don't worry. We have the governer of Cahleefornia to protect us.

I used to use motorcycle candles but later found that an electric headlight is much brighter and doesn't blow out when I move.
