Pandora has been dead outside the US for some time. I was just getting into using it when they shut down access outside the US. I'm sure it was at LEAST two years ago this happened.
This is a ridiculous story as HP already messed with keyboards.
Try checking out the HP laptop keyboards on Canadian laptops. Dear god the layout on those things is terrible. The old QWERTY stuff is in the right place but punctuation etc... Is all over the place. Absolutely horrendous keyboards. I wound up having to use a USB keyboard with it as the default keyboard is damn near unusable unless you like doing a LOT of deleting and retyping of stuff.
I left the UK in 1996 before all this started happening. Very glad I did as I look now and it upsets me to see what the country I once loved has become. I used to be proud of being from England.
So there's nothing like "Full Disclosure" or anything to force them too? Interesting. That's why I said I didn't know how it worked and wondered if Apple had done anything wrong.
Still absolutely amazed at this. Given Apple said it was a hormone imbalance... Isn't deliberately misleading investors the sort of thing the SEC takes a dim view of? Don't know my US stock market laws and all that but I can't imagine the guy who IS, to many people, Apple, being in a life threatening condition and the shareholders not being told being seen as a good thing. Yes it protected the share price, but didn't they lie?
Whatever, glad Jobs is okay. One of the few people in the tech industry I admire.
I agree with you Space cowboy. When the SDK agreement came out I was talking to someone who was working on a C64 emulator for the iPhone (not the emulator in this story incidentally) and I said "But the agreement expressly forbids emulators."
Yes, I agree it's wrong that Sega can do this (assuming they actually are and there isn't some change with how they're doing stuff under the hood), but the fact is me, a non-coder, has known that emulators wouldn't be allowed under the agreement.
I guess the best outcome would be that with this gaining attention and the Sega thing that the rules change. That would be great, but even if he was told it's okay, I would expect he didn't check multiple times. One thing I've learned over the years with red tape is if you speak to three different people, you'll invariably get 3 different answers. Getting one response is not very helpful.
If the author really DID have a leg to stand to on, he'd have evidence to prove to Apple he was told it would be okay.
Instead it's yet another case of an app being turned down and the Slashdot community crying "fuck Apple" and the usual tired cliches.
Have you seen people with flu before I wonder? I've had it badly three times in my life. Once when I was a kid, once in my early 20's, and last year (late 30's).
In my 20's the virus attacked my heart and I still suffer issues today from the damage it caused.
Last year I was just exhausted by it.
The fact you've posted as an AC makes me wonder if you're telling the truth, but we'll say that you are.
Every disease will hit some people harder than others. Perhaps your wife has a crappy immune system. Where I am, of 252 cases, 2 have wound up in hospital, no deaths.
As for the supposed experts... Are you talking ACTUAL experts? Or the talking heads on the likes of CNN telling us the sky is falling?
You mean the flu vaccines that are proven to not work? Seriously, do your research. And I mean proper research, not research from anyone financially benefiting from the vaccine. The flu vaccine is unreliable at best.
HPV vaccine is being seriously questioned as well currently, for the record.
Given flu traditionally excels in cold weather, I'm not sure swine flu, particularly with the other issues in Africa, are an especially big concern.
And saying North America has a functioning healthcare system.... BWAHAHA! Canada, yes. The US? HAHAHA! You should try telling that to the American's I'm friends with who have medical problems.
One friend the other day pointed out that if she injures herself, she's better off getting into her car and deliberately crashing it as her deductible is half that of her HMO.
As I said above, there's sure going to be a lot of testing of the safety and efficacy of this vaccine isn't there! I mean it's probably 2-3 months before CNN and friends begin the hype machine to sell vaccines. 3 months.
Twitter was insane when H1N1 first broke. Now it's pandemic... Crickets.
Just wait a couple of months and the scaremongering bandwagon will set off again. Just in time for the companies to sell millions of vaccines for a flu that, thus far, has presented with symptoms equal to or lesser than the regular flu we see every year.
252 cases where I am. 2 required hospitalization. No deaths.
And WOW! The companies have a whole lot of time to test the safety and efficacy of these vaccines don't they! If this were, say, a heart drug or whatever being rushed to market (and heart disease still kills more people every year than flu ever will*) they would never be allowed to rush it to market this quickly and would need to spend at least six more months faking the tests, I mean doing the tests.
Yet most will happily line up and be beta testers for this vaccine.
The best thing we can do to prevent the flu is COUGH AND SNEEZE INTO OUR ARMS! Seriously, do not cover your mouth with your hands. You cough or sneeze into the crook of your elbow. You don't touch anyone with that, and it contains the germs.
(* - Do not come back with the Spanish Flu pandemic. Medical science, hygiene etc... have ALL comes on in leaps and bounds since then.)
Whatever. Glad to see someone has used the "money" tag on this story. The shareholders of the companies working on the vaccine must be damn near pissing themselves with excitement at the dividend they're going to receive.
Figured it was just overhyped but around 6:30pm my time last night, the app just died. And of course with the Appstore having such a stupid approval process it'll take a while for any fix to appear.
It may be childish, but it's also funny. These anti-piracy assholes tie up the courts in semantics and are bought and paid for by the movie and recording industry and have no interest in fair use etc... They are whores to the RIAA and MPAA... So to see them get taken down a peg or two is lovely.
Actually it was an experiment in testing the mods. The last time a PSP story came up, I made an almost identical post and got +5, funny. This time -1, troll.
I've never actually bought any digital content. However I have received it for "free" on some DVD's. One is from about 5 years ago. Tried the content.
DRM servers are gone.
As for the anti-piracy crap on DVD's... What amazes me is even up here in Canada... WE GET THE FBI WARNING! (And Canada has it's own DVD's in most cases due to the bi-lingual crap, and they're publisher by other companies. Usually Alliance Atlantis. So many wonderful DVD covers ruined by having the title in both English and French on the front. Aesthetically horrible.)
Yes, we're receiving law enforcement warnings on our DVD's from a group who has NO jurisdiction up here whatsoever.
An RCMP one would be so much cooler. "But down that DVD burner, eh!"
Bug fixing aside, Valve have done ONE update for L4D which added the Last Stand map, survival mode, and Versus on more maps. That's it. The Versus update was minor as the maps were already there. Survival mode was a nice addition, as was the map.
Compare that to TF2 that has seen so far SIX massive updates.
Oh you, Sir, are a genius!
As for the artist... You mean I could have been being PAID to stare at womens asses all this time? Dang...

Not anymore.
So there's nothing like "Full Disclosure" or anything to force them too? Interesting. That's why I said I didn't know how it worked and wondered if Apple had done anything wrong.
So when an Apple SDK agreement leads to something bad, it's all "fuck Apple" and all that in the tags. Why no "fuck Nintendo"?
Still absolutely amazed at this. Given Apple said it was a hormone imbalance... Isn't deliberately misleading investors the sort of thing the SEC takes a dim view of? Yep, vaccines are awesome!
And it leads to a zombie uprising, I'm ready!

Shit!
In Gran Turismo 2 and 4 I've seen stuff like this.
In GT2, if you hit a particular wall at Laguna Seca at the right spot and angle, you'd be the other side of the wall.
In GT4 a similar glitch, but it's at Monaco just after the tunnel. You can get the other side of the barrier and drive around.
Could be worse, it could have resulted in sex... from her father.
And if they don't get the hint, try this less subtle one.

Fascinating.
I'm sure the remaining 26 PSP owners are thrilled!

Human Laughter Up To 16 Million Years Old
That's funny, because so are the gags on "According to Jim".
What I get for copying the link straight from Steam. Here's the proper one.
Didn't you?

As for Valve's lies/broken promises, read this.
