My thoughts as well. I have a Eee Netbook that could never update to Win7 Service Pack 1 due to some mysterious issue that always failed no matter what I tried. Numerous hours and forums later, I just gave up since it's just a netbook and works fine for what it does and just install numerous small updates.

Why doesn't Apple simply implement a "CarPlay" function on the phones screen so when you get in your car to drive it can switch over. 4-6 big buttons for common apps like Maps, Music, search, or phone, Siri is active so voice commands can be used, BT is turned on so it can interface with the car system. An option to either read texts/email to you (and reply via voice) or a function to quick reply to the sender that I am driving and can't respond right now but will shortly. Heck even add an OBD dongle to your car that can give you real time data on all your mileage, fuel, computer codes, etc.
Adding a simple bracket to your car to hold your phone is going to be much better than some hacked and expensive car stereo interface that won't receive timely updates. LifeHacker did an interesting article yesterday about the apps available to interface with OBD dongles. Surely someone can perfect that interface and make it useful? Either way, the car interface of today is hopelessly out of touch with modern tech and usefulness. All these things can be accomplished without leading to more distractions and can actually improve road attentiveness.

I understand that backup cameras will be mandatory in cars by 2018. Related, I can see this being very use for larger vehicles where ground clearance impedes visibility. A small object or child can easily disappear below the line of visibility on larger SUV's and trucks and this seems to make it visible without being a distraction (and able to toggle off/on). Safety aside I can see this being very useful for driving in tight spaces and other instances where seeing the ground and wheels would be immensely helpful.
Meh, I'll just use Google Docs. When that isn't enough I'll open Libre/Open Office.
While I prefer Excel, those other options do just fine for anything I'll be doing outside of work. Plus you can get Apple's suite of office apps for free as well. MS screwed themselves by making it a pay to edit setup.
TL;DR, I don't think MS Office, or even LibreOffice or any other office suite, is really needed anymore. I only have it installed because some of my classes at school require me to, but I noticed that when I'm not doing these assignments, I have only used it to create my resume.

If the guy is headshotting you 6x in a row, on a normal everyday server (console), then yeah he should be. He's abusing the system/newbs whether cheating or not. The way BF4 handles netcode and lag among players is horrendous and if someone's abusing that then they should be kicked. Sorry, it just makes for a better game for everyone and Dice should do a better job of balancing teams and weapons. (Pistol beats a full auto machine gun, wha?)
I play BF4 some (unfortunately). If I start getting tagged by the same guy over and over, and he's taking out multiples at a time when they are shooting him w/ a gun/tank/whatever, you can sure bet I'll be the one "abusing the system" by reporting them. Whether his fault or Dice's or MS's, if enough do it then hopefully some attention will be brought to the issue.
No sane soldier is going to try to stand against amored vehicles with nothing heavier than a light machine gun. It's not fear. It's realism and following orders.

What most of these posts don't advertise is their actual speed of connection. Today with smartphones, LTE should be standard. But most of these cheap plans are MVNO's reselling cheaper 3g plans as most major carriers don't resell their LTE plans only 3G/3G+/4G (latter being marketing). While fine for those driven primarily by cost, it's not ok for those that want speed. That and they use their own definition of "unlimited" or even the 2/3/5 GB plans they offer where they knock you down to Edge speeds after a certain amount.
So you're telling me if I don't use my phone, my bill will be cheaper!
Moved from ATT to RepublicWireless, another Sprint MVNO, has plans from $5 to $40. Right now, Moto X is the only phone.
The problem with this whole article and your post is you don't give enough details. Most companies are now going to unlimited talk and text and only paying for data since most users now have smartphones. So what though if I get unlimited data for $10! If the speeds are edge or 3g or below, yeah it'll work for those that are watching costs primarily, but for many/most, their smartphone had better be fast and get good coverage.
Last I saw, ATT wasn't allowing the MVNO's to use their LTE antennas, only their 3g ones (marketed as 4G).
You should really try the AeroPress. I used to be a diehard french press guy, but I am not looking back.
It's the same thing, just a different form factor. You're forcing water through the grounds after steeping a bit and using either a metal mesh or paper filter.
Starbuck's Via is also a clean single-cup solution. It is cheaper, smaller and more dependable than the Keurig machine. It is also a format that would be very hard to add DRM, etc.
Since Keurig wants to punish its customers, I will forgo their stupidity.

Lazy is not a term I've heard describe postal workers very often, but that term justifies your rant so whatever. My dad retired as a postal worker, was even part of the intervention team dealing with workplaces to prevent people from "going postal". It wasn't about being stressed out and overworked. It's a combination of low barriers of entry for the job, conflicting personalities, etc. Besides the fact they are one of the largest employers in the US (which makes them an easy target) you are going to have some crazies.
Or due to the fact that many providers are not charging for texts and going to data only (at least in the US), iMessages served part of their purpose. WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, etc have all sent a death knell to the charging for text messages.
With most people's plans today (again in the US), iMessage is not needed and can be turned off.
How about a simpler idea: it's illegal to take your attention off the road and the act of driving. Doesn't matter why, only matters whether you're paying attention to your driving or not. That simplifies enforcement, if the cop sees you looking down inside the car rather than out the windshield at the road he doesn't have to worry about finding the right law for what you were looking at or even figuring out what you were looking at and you can't weasel out of it.
Distracted Driving is already a law on the books in most/if not all states. That's partially why there was pushback to start being specific about types of distractions. Just enforce what laws you already have.
This is exactly the issue I have with my Subaru BRZ. If the car is moving, you can't enter information into the GPS. Thats all well and good when there is only me in the car, but stopping my passenger from using it is asinine! I hit this issue on a road trip, I wanted my passenger to try and find somewhere up ahead for us to eat (in the country with no decent cell data connection). I ended up having to pull off the highway and pull over just to find a nearby restaurant... not impressed.
Same with Lexus. They have blocked input to the Nav system if the car is not in Park. So now it's just a nice screen to show where you are since the input in vehicles kinda sucks anyway compared to dedicated GPS or phones.

Why not both? I prefer the semi-open office plan where you have multiple cubicles in a group where 4 people share the square space and their cubicles have only two walls. Basically a large 4 person cubicle. It promotes communication between the people there but can be private and quiet enough so that you can focus and get things done.
The rat problem in NYC seems to be legendary. But, if there wasn't as much for them to eat then it wouldn't be an issue any bigger than any other city, right? Are there better solutions found in treating the cause rather than controlling the symptom?
Edit: replace mocha with hamburgers and Starbucks with McDonalds. Sometimes you don't want risk and just trust the consistency of a large brand. (not that I would approve of either company in this case) But consistency isn't quality.

While texting and mouse control provide some dexterity, I believe that fine motor skills are highlighted much better on a PC than a console according to my dismal performance on Battlefield 4.
