Just to clarify - I meant that the ads I've seen on slashdot and freshmeat *don't* bash competing products, so I don't mind them. In fact, I think it's amusing to see MS ads on some slightly-anti-MS slashdot articles.:)
The ads mentioned in the article seemed to claim that the "TCO" of Linux is much higher than that of Windows.
I guess I can sort of see the problem some people would have with that. Personally, I wouldn't mind if they'd just show ads that promote MS products instead of bashing competing products (like the MS ads I've seen on slashdot and freshmeat).
How would it limit their freedom of speech? They have no *right* to have their ads put on somebody else's website.
Anyone who boycotts Linux Today over this has the right to do so. Should Linux Today decide to get rid of the ads, they have the right to do so, because it's their website and they decide what to put on it.
Heh, I liked that one too - if anyone wants to see it, you can probably find an mpeg of it by searching google for heist60.mpeg.
My absolute favorites, though, were the basketball themed ones, featuring former NBA star Detlef Schrempf as Linux.:-) Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a video file of any of those.
Maybe/apps/nautilus/preferences/directory_limit is it. Looks like the default is 4000 and setting it to -1 would make it unlimited. I just found this by looking at the nautilus-2.3.7 source for a minute, though, so I don't really know if this works.
If Microsoft bought Nintendo and Nintendo's influence spread through the rest of MS, the releases of upcoming versions of Windows would be delayed repeatedly, so people wouldn't have to upgrade so often.
Well, it runs great on my system (K6-2 350, 128MB of RAM). I used to use only Window Maker and Blackbox, but switched to KDE recently, and I'm very satisfied with its speed.
Actually, GCN is the acronym Nintendo uses (their site appears to be down right now, but do a google search for "site:nintendo.com gcn" if you don't believe me). I don't get it either.
It should work perfectly under KDE, or any window manager. You just need to have all of the libraries Evolution requires installed (which includes the GNOME libraries).
It will work under any window manager (or at least it did the last time I tried it). Applications that use KDE or GNOME rarely need to be running under KDE or GNOME, they just need you to have the KDE/GNOME libraries installed.

Slackware 8.0 Released

Slackware is a sourcefriendly distrobution that is rock solid from the bottom up.
That's exactly what I love most about Slackware; it allows you to have complete control over everything instead of trying to do it for you. I hate waiting for a binary package of something when I can configure and compile it myself.
Kudos to the Slackware team for making such a great distro!
The fact that AMD might be buying Transmeta will help them tremendously except for the bad name that AMD made for itsself with its k6-2 chips...
What the hell are you talking about? The K6-2 was an excellent product (I'm still using a K6-2 system and have never had any problems with it). Oh, and let's not forget that it was the product that prompted Intel to release the original Celeron.
You might also want to think about the present -- AMD's CPUs are the fastest x86 CPUs available and they cost far less than Intel's. If any company has made a bad name for itself, it's Intel (paper launches, P4, 1.13GHz PIII recall, rambus, bugs, bugs, more bugs... anything I've forgotten?).

I think you're the one who should be educated as to how slashdot works. The post Katz replied to has a score of 0, so obviously you were browsing with a threshold higher than 0. Therefore, you couldn't see it, but you could see Katz's reply which has a score of 2.
Have you heard of Conker's Bad Fur Day for the N64? Here's IGN64's preview. Needless to say, if this buy out were to happen, I don't think Nintendo would have any problems with the content of Sega's games.
I'll be sticking with Konqueror aswell. Its rendering is just as good as Netscape6 (IMO), and it's nowhere near as bloated. BTW, you can turn off URL completion by right-clicking the location bar and selecting None from the Completion submenu.

That's nice.
Now what does that have to do with people having to pay for Windows even if they're not going to use it?
With those criminals on board, there might as well be a Grand Theft Semiconductor for the PS3.
He said you need the source code to remove the malicious features, not the programs themselves.

Read the article. This is not merely a typographical error; they were called and confirmed the price.

I second that. The updates Slashdotters are giving on this story are great.
Thanks, Rob, for posting articles about this, and to everybody else for keeping us informed.
Nothing fancy here:

Um, Flash DOES work in Galeon, and I imagine any other plugin that works in Mozilla works in Galeon as well.
I think this BBspot article is the spoof you're thinking of. "The race for 1Hz begins" indeed. :)

I used to use TiK (http://tik.sourceforge.net) via HTTP proxy. Worked perfectly.

If anybody can, it's Bitboys! I mean, they did just announce their mega-merger with Rambus.
