Let's see. My brother had colonic cancer. I say 'had', because he was cured using his own stem cells. Completely cured. (Unfortunately for me, if I should get the same affliction I am too old for that treatment.)
No embryos were harmed in the procedure.
Yes, but - right now there is a multi-year clinical test on humans going on where BCG is being tested for safety... it's only been used since 1928, in billions of doses. But that wasn't in the USA, so therefore it must be tested for a few years - thereby delaying a possible cure(!!) for autoimmune diabetes mellitus. Another ten years and there might be light in the tunnel, if the big pharma will let the research continue.
Disclosure: I have hereditary DM type II so it does not concern me personally.
So I could - if I had any intention of buying MS Office at all. Since I am retiring by the end of 2009 my employer will not be paying for MS Office licenses anymore, and neither will I.
Perhaps you should also follow at least one link on TFA and go here to hear the other side. Audiatur et altera pars, you know.
And I wouldn't just take the statement of a disgruntled roommate that he'd cracked the grading system as probable cause without any further inquiry.
My favorite "useless feature" is track changes in Word. Do you have any idea how surprised people get when they send me a Word document and I send them back all my edits with cute little bubble comments next them? Does OO support track changes? Cause if they dont, that is a shame... it is a damn useful feature once somebody drops change-tracked document on your lap and you go "wow, I never knew this existed!".
Writer can track changes. And a Word document imports into Writer with such tracks intact, I have used it on occasions to exchange documents with Word users.
"Summertime" is from "Porgy and Bess", George Gershwin, 1935, so it may still be under protection. (The Bess role was written for Anne Wiggins Brown, who died on March 13, 2009 here in Oslo.)
No wonder they've taken over the market, it's damn hard to buy a netbook without XP where I live. Even Dell advertises Linux on its netbooks, but the configuration page only offers XP. Furrfu.
It's been a long time since I bought music in a store, but I find myself looking with increasing interest at what Magnatune offers. Currently downloading a Bach album...
Wow. I'm going to check statistics for my country: TBC is almost gone, so kids don't get BCG vaccine routinely anymore - and diabetes type 1 is increasing...
All the larger ISPs in Norway subscribe to the blacklist (CSAADF) that is run by the national police, Kripos. Every now and then someone pops up with a large number of clicks that have been blocked by the filter ("7000 stopped from viewing CP in a single day!!") - while it is ridiculously easy to get around and in fact does nothing whatsoever to prevent the distribution of CP. And of course, like the IWF list, who watches the watchers? When is it going to turn into a political filter, too?
Heh. I was standing at customs in New Delhi *mumble* years ago trying to bring in a piece of equipment needed for a presentation. A British gentleman was watching me struggle with the paperwork, noticing that I was neither British nor Indian, he remarked "you can blame us - we taught them."
I bet you're right - we keep seeing that kind of complaint everywhere. One of my favorites is "why doesn't $distro just play my DVDs when I insert them, like Windows does?" Ans: Because you're in the US, or otherwise have installed a distro that does not come with libdvdcss - and here's how to make it work...
(And if you are double booting, notice that it's okay to play DVDs with Windows, while you may be a criminal if you do it with Linux. To be legal, download a player from $site and pay (again) for it)
Actually, I think that if they fake it on Windows they fail there, too - sooner or later.
They are still working on removing Conficker from several thousand police PCs here in Norway - original estimate of "a day" to clean up is now closer to a week.
Let me see if I can get you started... I'd buy a study book, e.g. LPI exam guide, and work ALL the problems in it, as far as your local setup permits. You should then have a good foundation for tinkering with the spare machine and finding out things. Get another spare machine and set up a local LAN, explore it. Use the Net, look for people having problems of one kind or another with Linux, see if you can work out the solution on your home system. Hardware permitting, of course.
(I'd guess that most Linux users who just "know" have made a huge number of mistakes and learned from them - much the way I learned Fortran debugging:-)
Smari McCarthy needs to practice English a little more.
Now that the site is back up from the/.-ing, you can see in the comments that Mr. McCarthy is a native speaker of English.

The chances are really quite good that you already qualify for a legit free or steeply discounted version of MS Office.
But will it work with Wine?

It basically covers the idea of putting a net-capable computer into or on your dash. For Prior Art, you should probably watch "The Jetsons".
Or talk to the ARRL since radio amateurs have built and used such gear for a long time.
