So I went through the extra security for not having an ID.

After that I haven't had any extra security except for flights that come up suddenly and get booked a day or two before the flight.

I agree. Like at my bank, I can set it up so that I can transfer money from my account to yours online, however before I can actually do that, I have to fill out a form saying so much that I want to link my account to yours, and then sign it and take it into the bank.

So it will take a few days before a new account can get any money from my account. Seems like an ok deal to me...

And it seems to work, like when I was going through my divorce, the ex wanted to be able to transfer money from my account to her new personal one, and even though whe was on the account as well, I had to sign the form....

How about this idea. You have your security token or what ever. You log into the bank website. Before any action on your account can take place, you have to call from a telephone into the banks 800 number, enter your account number there, and the bank computer tells you what action is trying to be performed, and you acknowledge it.

Making sure of course that users know the 800 number prior to using the online banking, and don't put the 800 number on the website where the MITM will be able to change it to his own 800 number.

I see this as a pretty large pain in the ass, however most good security is a pain in the ass.

But every game console company that I have ever heard of doesn't make the majority of their money from the sale of the console. They make it of licensing the games, and if the kids don't play the console at all, no games get sold...

This whole line of argument is useless. Wether it is games, or music or what ever. You cannot say that you aren't stealing, because you are. You are depriving the right holders money, and that is the same as stealing money from them.

And "can provide security clearances which translate into govt jobs" is a total nonargument. If you need clearance and you didn't get any through the military, you get it when you need it (and are vetted at that time). Saying that getting it through the military translates into more jobs is insane.

Right, like Wolfgang said, you have no idea what you are talking about. Lets just propose that you and I are appling for the same job. Let's even say that you might be slightly more experienced then I, but the job in question requires a Top Secret Clearance ( or higher ) and I have one already and you don't. Now is the company going to hire you for the better experience and then spend $35,000.00+ to apply you for your clearance and 10 year back ground check, with the possability that you are unable to get it, in which they are out the money, and you are out the job, or are they going to hire me where they have no gamble at all. I would come with my clearance and they wouldn't have to spend a dime on it. And depending on when my last five year update was done, they might get a few years of service from me prior to having to pay to update my clearance.
