Yeah, that was my first thought when I read that article. I can't play driving games in 3rd person view, I always jump to either first person or the hood camera. The entire article is just bogus. Real life drivers play iRacing and comment on how it helps, there's that Grand Turismo kid that got to go do the real thing, and even for me personally, before I ever got behind the wheel I already had the basic concept down for driving. Slowing down in turns, proper brake management, etc.
True story. I gave HoN a shot in closed beta and was immediately treated to the same level assholery that plagues DotA and kept me from ever actually wanting to play that game online. It's hard to enjoy a game when you're being kicked for "being a noob" all of the damn time. HoN was flooded pretty bad right from the start with that crap, and even LoL and Demigod got inundated with it. It's part of the reason that I only ever played Demigod and DotA vs bots.
The DotA and DotA clone communities make Xbox Live look like a hippy playland where everyone holds hands and sings Kumbaya in harmony.
Did they really need to do a study to prove something we already knew? At least they fully admitted that it was just a matter of parents making sure that their child's time spent with video games is limited. Of course, that won't stop parents from blaming video games anyway.
Except to willingly associate yourself with the Republican party in its current incarnation is just as bad as endorsing the Democrats in their current state. You have to be willfully ignorant to completely ignore the massive failings of our two current political parties and want to be a member. In my eyes that does make you a moron.
That's pretty much the best option. I'm kinda tempted to also include a video of me taking the money I was gonna spend on Assassin's Creed 2 and spending it on something else entirely. Maybe I'll buy a friend a copy of Bad Company 2 or something along those lines.
I was really looking forward to buying Assassin's Creed 2 for PC after getting home from a month and a half trip of being out on a boat, but I guess Ubisoft isn't interested in my money.
I've had that issue for a while with Steampunk. A lot of times it looks more like something out of Flash Gordon rather than something out of The Difference Engine.
Thankfully there's always a few hard steam fans to keep the Flash Gordon wannabes in check.
Modded up for massive truth.
I understand that companies need to make their shareholders happy, but all they're doing by adopting draconian crap like Ubisoft's scheme is pissing off the people who do buy their games.
I spend about 2/3rds of the year on a ship with no internet save for the hour or so we may be in port and even then, that's a ridiculously slow connection (we're talking 15kb/s download speeds tops here with iffy connectivity). I'm a huge advocate of supporting the industry and spending money on games but when a company like Ubisoft decides to stab a paying customer like me in the back, how the hell can I keep preaching about how it's better to buy games to keep the industry going?
Thank god for indy developers and companies like Stardock. Hell, even EA seems to have taken up the sword and is transforming itself into a champion of PC gaming. I'll still gleefully throw buckets of money at these guys (Bad Company 2 3), but Ubisoft can bite my shiny metal ass. I was gonna buy Assassin's Creed 2 when I got home in a couple weeks, but not now and not ever. Until Ubisoft dumps this braindead scheme I will not be buying any of their titles. GJ losing a paying customer.
Well, not entirely useless. I keep all of my Steam games backed up to an offline profile so that even if Steam did go tits up, I'll still be playing my games quite happily. Most of the non-Valve games don't even need Steam to be in online mode for their multiplayer to work.
I see nothing wrong with charging for a service like this, but it would kind of help if the newspapers in this country would actually start enforcing some level of journalistic integrity and stop being sensationalist wastelands with articles written by paid off and/or self-righteous journalists.
You know, honest reporting? (yeah, yeah, I couldn't keep a straight face when I reread that either).
I really doubt most people would care in all honesty. That'd be along the lines of someone coming in an saying "Oh yea, well no more moldy cake for you!"
It's kinda sad at how few gamers actually have the ability to uphold a boycott. I still, to this day, have not played MW2. You bet your ass I put a +1 on the piracy counter and then promptly deleted it though.
To be fair though, it's not like WoW's soundtrack is all that memorable. There are some certain themes here and there that are definitely great, but for the most part that game's music definitely falls under the "forgettable background music" category, and when you're playing a game as repetitive in nature as WoW it's better to have music that'll help keep you amped. The only reason I have the soundtracks for WoW is soley just cause of a small handful of songs. The rest of them really aren't worth the electrons it takes to store them.
Besides, assuming the article is even remotely true, then that means the government would essentially be hiring a number of professional trolls. This is a job creation solution!
"How about they fix the bloated, slow-to-load youtube.com and replace it with something clean."
Fixed that for you.
Youtube has been progressively getting more and more buggy as they keep screwing with it. The only thing on my wishlist for it is that they just fix the damn site. It's gotten so bad that me and a few other friends who do video work are wondering why they even bother having a loading bar on their videos anymore.

Though, since we are going to play the Wikipedia game, you might want to read the last sentence of one of your own links.

Good ole Radio Flyers. I know the US does make some things but it really is a shame that we aren't fully leveraging our capabilities. Now it seems like all this country really produces is debt.

Too bad the article itself can't be modded down.

What's so wrong with being independent?

Hooray, glad someone else pointed that out. Jimmy Wales is a right proper cocksucker.

So...does this mean Dr. Steel needs to register in South Carolina now?
Boo, /. ate my love for BC2's PC release.

Vote Dr. Steel!
I didn't know Chris Crocker was a /. poster.

Now THAT would have been a good movie worth talking about and analyzing.

Why oh why did I have my mod points have to expire? MC Lars pimping is always worth a +1.

Which is why you should always buy American!
Oh wait...we don't make anything anymore.
In before "Government conspiracy to kill off low/middle class families."
C'mon, I know someone here was seriously thinking it.
