Thing is, Adam's vision was fully implemented with Wikipedia + smartphones. Or Google, or some other combination of teh tubes . But any way you cut it H2G2 is a site for fan boys and not a really useful Guide - such Guides exist elsewhere. I'm all for fanboydom, but everyone's cutting budgets (my department has lost a prof and lots of grad student support); this seems a fairly inconsequential thing to lose.
Oh! Starcraft 2 just leads me further into depression! Terrans are OP, and after I get whomped I look for whiskey, and if that's not around, the revolver!
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor, dumb bastard die for his country."
I just wish Patton had really said it. The lionization of death in combat always seemed ridiculous to me.
Tut was buried in a cave, and so cave burial, with this chariot, is evidence of cultural change, not technological decline. I'm in Classics, not Egyptology, but I have never read that the Valley of the Kings was an indicator of a declining civilization.
I moved to Southern California a couple of years ago, and the pressure to conform (dress right, listen to the right music, have the right body - and attitude) is immense. I've never seen such a monolithic culture before. I wouldn't be surprised if miserable people were twittering happy thoughts because they don't want someone to think they aren't "chill." Admittedly this is at university, but I doubt it gets better in real life.
But we if could reverse the nacelle polarity, we might be able to couple the externality to the asymmerty with a tachyon burst! That might collapse the price distortion!
Not that I disagree with you, but it does look like technobabble.
I'm sure both dolphins and mice will have the good foresight to leave the planet before Thursday. I've already received my good by note from the dolphins, and the mice have offered to buy my brain.
Yep. My Black's Law Dictionary has two entries for nolle prosequi: a notice a suit has been abandoned, and the action taken in order to abandon a suit. None of the AC's terms occur in my dictionary.
I'm a Classicist, and I don't care about math, but I sympathize with your point. Rumor is the Kindle doesn't display Greek well. This weekend I printed off 100 pages of mostly English articles and thought "this is ridiculous. I'll get a Kindle." But every page has Greek on it that can only be displayed well in PDF form (I've heard from Kindle owning friends). I also understand that PDFs don't allow the Kindle to do whatever nifty tricks it does. Until it supports Greek, I think I have to work with the dead trees.
The problem with putting slides online is it encourages students to skip lectures. Unless the instructor is posting a written version of his lecture, students only reviewing slides online will not benefit from any comments the instructor makes. Anyway slides should be a supplement and illustration of the lecture, rather than the lecture expounding the slides.

Coming from Porky Pig, you've just embodied my three favorite meats. Will you come to my barbeque?
This was done in an Eastern country. He was indicating an interesting relevant cultural approach that informs our understanding of the story.
If you hear "HEY HUMAN" then shout "MARCO?". If you hear "POLLO!" go find the source of the sound..
What on Earth do ghosts want with chicken? Don't they need rice too?
I went to college with these guys. Demon Hunters was good about 10 years ago, for a college production. Have they improved?
I don't have auto insurance, and the gov't doesn't fine me for not having it.
I haven't yest seen a protester without an agenda. Still don't know why that's an arresting offence.
Why is having a backpack a reason to arrest someone? And having a lawyer's number seems like good planning as things turned out.

With no one to compare to, your significant other is the best for you for now and for always!
Just because one-and-only sex is "best" doesn't mean it's good....

Great, we've just made gin and tonic genetically obsolete.

Socrates never wrote a damn thing, and the critics still ruined his career.
"The more you copy homework, the lower your grades."
No shit, Sherlock! Does that mean that if I don't think by myself I will not really learn? Wow! Who would guess that!
Certainly not my undergraduates.

From Wikipedia: "The Sword of Damocles appears frequently in popular culture including novels, feature films, television series, videogames and music." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damocles#In_culture.2C_art.2C_and_literature If SCOTUS wanted to leave it, the RIAA would sue.

Marine mammals used to fight terrorism? Why did they stop?
It wasn't Wayne, it was George C. Scott.

I for one welcome our undead marsupial overlords!
