If the gov't uses Microsoft word, wouldn't it be an issue of national security for Microsoft to stop selling Word?
Thus, the gov't might step in at some point and void this decision.
That's what I was thinking too. Maybe this Ed Balls guy (The secretary for Children in Britain) is really just a total pedophile who wants to make endless hours of child porn videos by installing cameras in 20,000 homes.
Surely that would require no significant amount of resources to be tapped. Maybe just an area the size of Australia? Not sure about that though. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
The hard part is getting a program that's not meant to be parallelized, parallelized. You may have been working on a program that can be broken into discrete chunks easily.
Threads are a performance hack and people are trying to squeeze that last bit of performance out.
The arguments for the existence of file sharing usually consist of saying that you can't sell the actual software anymore, but, you can sell support contracts & goodies. Although, it seems that if people don't need support, they won't buy it.
And then, it seems that when people can download something for free or buy it, sometimes they'll pay for it.
That's absolutely right. People aren't even allowed to visit the Whitehouse anymore. And if you walk too close, you'll probably be called a terrorist, picked up and thrown away. (Either that or shot.)
You can't send an email or a letter to the government either. Most senators ignore these things because they get so many of them now.
People will have their P2P & Skype no matter what. If these services start to not work as well on IPv4, people will do something about it and it will probably mean switching to IPv6.
Well, if it mentions Microsoft it probably at least has something to do with Microsoft.
In fact, I believe that everything that mentions Microsoft has something to do with Microsoft. Everyone has something to do with Microsoft as it is. Even your mother.
I challenge you to find a quote that mentions Microsoft but has absolutely nothing to do with Microsoft.
Not everything remotely related to Microsoft is astroturfing. This story probably wouldn't have been tagged as 'astroturfing' had the word 'Microsoft' not been in it.
Even if the Web had been stunted by throttling, the demand for multimedia content would have eventually driven the rise of the Web or at least a super-Gopher.

Are you kidding me? That's what it's all about. It's a newer and better way to stream more garbage more efficiently.

We're not whining. We're just discussing. We know what must happen, but, also realize that it's going to tear the world apart & we don't like it.

Well, most facebook revolts aren't all that important. They are just about minor things like new graphics. The TOS thing actually made the newspapers.
Yeah! Get off my lawn!
If we can't slander each other, where will will our lulz come from?
Whoops. Didn't mean to mod that funny.
You can haz any colour you like as long as it's black
Wow, ok. I believe it.
prove it.
Society can spend on cell phones & a space program. It's not us who decide if we go to space or not. It's congress.

Will the real MySQL please stand up, please stand up, please stand up?
Actually, your right. I didn't read the article. Ah well, I should probably keep my mouth shut now.
Parent is either +1 Funny or -1 Troll.
NO! That's MY karma you're talking about!
Gosh darn it... I will never get good karma at this rate.
I had to say it. :)
There's probably way too many variables in this study.

I dunno. I'm just obsessed with Microsoft. Can you blame me? I hang out on Slashdot all day.
And yes, this is that point.
