I'm one of the people who's become disillusioned with manned spaceflight, and I'll tell you why.

It started with sending humanity to the stars, now it's just NASA maintaining it's budget. Space is no longer a province of all of humanity, but rather a small group of elitists who jealously guard what they think it their province alone; look at the shameful way US astronauts treated Dennis Tito when he want up there ("You shouldn't be here! You're not in our clique!").

If NASA decides to start creating a genuine space infrastructure, more power to them. Until then don't expect the kind of enthusiasm you saw with Neil Armstrong.

Then I'll offer my services to the government and be granted a letter of marquee, under the auspices which I shall plunder the merchantmen and caravels of our enemies!

I sense a great deal of anger in you. I don't quite understand it; are you terrified of the weaknesses you think anime displays because you worry about seeing those weaknesses in yourself?

What are you talking about? As an end-user system XP is much nicer than Linux. First of all in terms of pure visual appeal (and that makes a difference when you're staring at the screen for 8 hours a day) XP is much nicer on the eyes. The fonts are more readable. The size ratios between the fonts, the dialog boxes, the spaces in between, etc. are far superior in XP (which is probably as a result of the people who built the Linux desktop doing so without consulting graphics designers that much). The end-user applications are far more interoperable.
