Uhhh..point of fact, Israel struck first in 1967 when they attacked Egypt by air. And, the United Nations didn't really own the land to give it away in the first place. There WERE people leaving there beforehand.
That's just so wrong I don't know where to begin. First of all, the vast majority of people who park in those spaces don't use a wheelchair. Secondly, it's not either a wheelchair or marathon runner, there are gradations in between. If you need a walker to walk, are in intense pain while doing so, and can only go at a snail's pace, being 20 feet closer to the store entrance really does matter.
What do you expect? Illustrators aren't writers; I think it was fairly common a few years ago to allow 'leet artists to make up their own characters and storylines, and unsurprisingly they were usually as bland as Spawn. Kind of like when coders are allowed to design the games as well *coughIdcough*
It's time for the mucichians to wake up and understand they can do their own distribution. - The time for the big record labels are numbered. Soon they will wanish in a fading cloud of historydust. And the no-talent marketingdroids that claim they know what the "market" want will be no more....
That's fine, but under that system almost nobody will be able to support themselves solely through their music. Everyone wants to be onstage, nobody wants to be in the audience, and when every other person on the planet has their own garage band, none of them are going to be making a profit. So don't quit that job at Starbucks, folks.
The problem with overclocking are the overclockers themselves. "Yeah, I'm really sticking it to the man!" "They're trying to defraud us on these chips!" "That's how they get you, dude, they underrepresent the chips true speed so they can rip you off" Gah, it's just so pathetic.
Meanwhile, let's completely ignore the fact that if we can get americans into these chinese RISC chips are any good, we could damage the industry giants that threaten our own freedoms silently like a thief in the night! sounds like a brilliant plan, jerry...
Right, as long as it gives us the slightest advantage, who cares about the rest of the world. You honestly thinking cutting into Intel and AMD's market share is going to do anything?
And if you think the depradations that the Chinese Public Security knobs inflict on the Tibetans (or Uigur or Mongols or just about any non-Han ethnic groups) somehow pales in comparison to those "industry giants" you're just completely off base.
You think the way Beijing is trying to destroy entire cultures, the way they use torture and execution to silence dissidents, or the way they're constantly trying to destabilize the region by threatening Taiwan is somehow of less importance than a vague distrust of big corporations?
I think your priorities are a little off.
Yep, Dover books are great. Pick up something that will last you a few subway commutes for a dollar or two, and even their science/academic reprints can usually be had for a few dollars more.
Only America, and it's government (despite what the rest of the world believes) is not monolithic. Big business has a lot of sway, but it's not total (otherwise we wouldn't be able to sue corporations, there would be no environmental regulations whatsoever, and no FCC, SEC, FAA, etc.)

If this is the first, where does The New Hacker's Dictionary [amazon.com] come in? Not mainstream enough? It is much more than just the Jargon File.
Huh? You're equating "academia" with "mainstream"? They're usually diametrically opposing styles.
The New Hacker's Dictionary is TOO mainstream; why it's enjoyable to read, I wouldn't exactly call it academically rigorous.
There were three things that ruined DS9 at the end; first of all, they tied the story into the whole Bajor thing. Now the Bajorans are mind-numbingly dull, even by Star Trek standards. It's like generic alien race #3. The second problem is the way they ruined the most interesting character, Dukat. It's like the writers just couldn't stand having a morally ambiguous character so they turned him into a generic insane villain. The third thing, of course, was the way they made you not care about any of the protagonists very much. Characters are supposed to become MORE complex and nuanced as a series goes on, not less so.
Heh, that's it? In the US it's 4 years of university, 4 years of medical school, then four to nine (yes, I said nine) years of residency (including family/internal medicine).
There is a million and one heavy rap metal funk etc. bands already.
Hear, hear. Good grief, anytime anyone EVER asks me to "check out their friend's band" they ALWAYS sound exactly the same. For all the weeping and moaning about mainstream bands sounding alike, indie music is just as bad.
If this is legal, the reverse should be true as well. I should be able to take a Disney movie and add violence, sex, and profanity.
Or maybe television, that would be fun; Touched by an Angel or Seventh Heaven special edition on DVD. Add a shotgunning here, a shower scene there, redub the characters with sound-alikes who utter a profanity every sentence...

too much clean air can lead to hyperventilation.
Uhhh, the other ones were good points, but you lost me on that one...
Boy, I am amazed at the paleolithic attitudes present on Slashdot.
I'm not amazed. It's exactly what I expected from this lot.

It would be good if they would encourage open debate on such subjects before they became law
They do. And they even broadcast it on C-SPAN.
You have nothing to lose but your dignity!
And your heterosexuality I'm afraid...

I was assigned SimCity for an economic geography course. It actually meshed surprisingly well with the course curriculum...
Years ago, auto racing was so much more fun
No, it was still cars going around in a circle. Driving cars may be fun in the right situation, but watching someone else do it rarely is...
We need to swallow our American pride and look after our European betters.
Very good, m'lord.

Personal enlightenment? That doesn't pay the bills, my friend.
So if something doesn't provide you with monetary gain it's useless? What a tragic way to live your life.
But you're assuming the dubious research compiled about high-fat foods causing obesity is true. Not sure why you'd "wince".
What I don't understand is why you would want to waste time on college if you already have a career? That's the whole point, isn't it?
No, it's not.
I'm studying medicine in France (entering my 6th and final year - studies are a bit longer here)
6 is more than 8? Since when?

Of course, the insurance company would probably freeze you in carbonite, metaphorically speaking...
